trying to install platinum 2014 , gets through reboot validator ok but then after a while during which the install seems ok , suddenly all screen icons disappear and after a few more minutes the install fails saying it was interrupted.
I have tried twice to install and rebooted in between but no joy.
Note I have nero 12 which installed ok.

I just want to mention that I don't work for anybody. I'm retired and have been volunteering in the forum for over 5 years. You have to talk with Nero to get a refund.

A couple of things to try-
First, disable antii-virus and it's security features.
Then, right click on the installation file and select "run as administrator".
does that help?

In my particular case, the failure occurs as it is trying to install nero updater. I have full administrator rights and have tried downloading the installer twice. even tried adding the registration key in nero control center which allows the installation to proceed without having to manually enter the key, but still fails at the same point. tried using Nero CC to just update the updater but also fails.

I don't know your experience level but a lot of people think they are running as the administrator just because they're the only user of their system. In Vista and later, one has to create an administrator account to have full administrative rights. This ends up requiring you to select which user account you want to run Windows in when you boot your computer. If I'm offending your intelligence, it's not intended.

You do offend by patronising people.

Under multiple beta-tests using different European language Windows 8.1 (multiple editions) (x64) operating system's DVD's which I had constructed from the different TechNet Professional ISO’s that I created out my downloads account, I found out that Nero 2014 Platinum works perfectly w/ the latest Microsoft TechNet Windows 8.1 (multiple editions) (x64) RTM operating system (Build 9600), on my AMD FX-8150 eight-core machine w/ an AMD Radeon (VTX) HD 7850 2GB Graphics Card, two Pioneer BDR-207EBK Optical drives, two 2TB hard disks + 32GB memory!

My Nero2014_Platinum does not install. It fails installing the reboot validator.
I run the Nero installer, it tells me the installation requires the installation of reboot validator, I click install (for the required reboot validator), it starts and then tells me stories about which version of Windows is required XP, Vista, 7).
I am doing all this on a machine with CPU: Core i7 in socket 1366, 12 GB of RAM (DDR3 in tripple channel), 4 TB HDDs no partition with less than 60 GB available and this is under Windows 7 Ultimate - 64 bit. I see no reason except a "glitch" in the installer itself.
I run the installer "as administrator", all HDDs are in perfect condition (checked with Windows and with another utility).
I tried running the cleanup utility - didn't help.
In Windows - no version is installed (There is no Nero version to uninstall).
-
This is mostly caused by activating the "compatibility mode" of windows.
Check the properties of the trial installer - is "compability mode" enabled? -
-
Jens,
You have just become a lifesaver :-)
I am amazed at myself for not having checked or even thought it/about it.
The installer downloaded from the store after purchasing, comes already in compatibility mode to Vista.
I cleared that and the problem disappeared as if it never existed...
THANK YOU (X1000000) !!!

I purchased mine directly on a Nero VIP Offer through the "Nero Store" & use it on my Windows 8.1 Pro (x64) RTM (Build 9600) operating system w/ perfect results!
If you can - avoid using these "compatibility modes" as they'll do nothing for you! Rather deploy the "administrator setup" facility when in difficulty!
If you're running XP x86 w/ SP3, Win 7 x64, or Win 8 x64 & above O/S - try to rather extract Nero 2014 Platinum files as follows in step 2 below only after you've done step 1>
Step 1 - upon any clean Windows 8.1 x64 & below that you may have installed, install the following Microsoft products prior to doing any Nero 2014 Platinum installation!
a) both the x86 & the x64 editions of Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Service Pack 1 Redistributable Package MFC Security Update http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/downlo...
b) Microsoft Silverlight http://www.microsoft.com/getsilverlig...
c) Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service pack 1 (Full Package) http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/downlo...
d) DirectX End-User Runtimes (June 2010) http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/downlo...
Step 2 - then follow these steps as set out just below!>
a) either double or single click upon the Nero2014_Platinum-15.0.02200.exe file to run the nero installshield extractor & after the files are fully extracted in to your AppData\Local\Temp folder & then copy the Nero installation folders located in there called NeroInstallFiles\NERO20130909142648953 which contains all the related setup files for a full nero installation to an alternative & safe place for any future nero installs!
b) then instead of running Setup.exe rather run the nero.nero2014esd.exe & input your nero product key to install the Nero 2014 Platinum program!
Hope this does help you w/ this!- view 4 more comments

I have performed all the steps as described, but am sorry to report that Nero 14 Platin still didn't install.
There was no prompting for any prerequisites to be installed, and when the "interruption of the installer" occurred again it did not disable Windows functionality, remove my desktop, etc., so a "clean" end of install was achieved. However, Nero 14 didn't get installed.
Looks like I'll have to wait for Nero development to come up with something. I reported the error to Nero support on Sep 21, they asked for log files, which I delivered the same day on Sep 25, which they forwarded to development on Sep 28.
Seems it remains true that it never really pays to be an early adopter....-
You are lucky if you got to report the error. Every time I tried to upload files it refused. Every time I tried to submit the error complaint without files it told me that all items marked * are mandatory. The only problem was that I HAD filled in all the items with the *. I have used Nero for years from V8 and never had a problem. Has Nero gone the way of all producers.........we have your money...tough!?

First you have to ensure what preceding versions of Nero you have installed and if there are remnants of previous installation ; clean your disc from all and every temporary files ; next there is a tool ( free ) from Microsoft called "MICROSOFT INSTALL CLEANUP" , just copy the name in Google you will be led to the download page ; the program is very light ; open it when downloaded and executed ; there you will browse through ALL programs installed OR REMNANTS ; no uninstaller did the job as I experienced the same trouble on Windows 7 ; if anything called NERO appears check and delete ; wait one minute for the job to be done ; you won't be notified but you will see the list coming back to the beginning with the program you do not want absent ; do that for everything called NERO in that program , then try again ; in my opinion the uninstaller given by Nero does not the job in full ; they have a program though but this is simple and quick in case you are like me impatient . run msconfig.exe. In the Services tab, checkmark the box to "hide all Microsoft services". Then, checkmark the box to disable all services. In the Startup tab, checkmark the box to disable all startup items. Reboot.
Right click on the installation file and select "run as administrator".
Regardless of whether it works or not, run msconfig.exe and restore all the boxes to their default and reboot. Do this as soon as possible after trying the installation. -
-
Excuse my layman's question. We went through this msconfig routine before
(http://forum.nero.com/nero_eng/topics...) and to no avail.
Is this situation - in which I seemingly installed prerequisites independent of the Nero install - different, so that it would justify another try with msconfig?
I ran this last install attempt as administrator.
I appreciate your trying to help and I am not too lazy to try something new. My question is what is new in this suggested approach? -
-
Well, in the back of my mind I thought we had tried that but I looked through the thread and didn't see it. I respond to so many threads that I can't remember who posted about one particular problem and how many times.
So- "never mind". -
-
Certainly not a problem, and sincere thanks again for your efforts!
-
-
I don't know if you want to try any of this-
Create a new user account and try the install.
or
Try the install in Safe Mode with networking.-
I ask your understanding that a new user account would present me with too much hassle in moving all installed applications to that new account.
It took me a long time and many tries until I found I could not start Windows 8 in safe mode by pressing F8 or others duting boot. I was only able to force safe boot via changes in msconfig. Here I tried all variations of settings, but when installing always got the message that the Windows Installer cannot be run in safe mode ....
I tried both, running the setup file and the msi file. -

Well, Paul, it's a pity you didn't see fit to let us know what the file was. Could have given something with which to lever Nero.
-
-
I had uploaded the file to the cloud so that people could use it but, tech support informed me that it's not used in every situation so I don't provide a link to it anymore. If one sends an e-mail to tech support to get help with their problem, they may or may not recommend using it.

I downloaded the Nero GetSupportFiles.Zip file and got an error. Ugggh!!
It put the Nero Support on my desktop but I can't open it. It asked what folder to open it with which I have no clue. I also downloaded the ftp://ftp6.nero.com/tools/EnableAndDisableLogging.zip but it didn't do anything. I don't know what's wrong and now I'm getting frustrated. :-( -

I got the message that GetSupportFiles does not work on Windows & 64bit!

Lynn- In general, you should allow 3-5 business days for a technical response. They don't work weekends.
Perhaps the solution found by Omega Tester will work.-
Only weekends?
-
-
-
-
-
Juergen- I wouldn't want you to move all your programs to another user account. It would be just a test to see if Nero will install. You can always abort the installation if it procedes further than what you've been getting.
-
Well, first thing this morning I created a new user account, logged on to it and tried the install.
Am sorry to report the same failing behaviour: it seems that all components install, after all the "secondary" installer windows have disappeared the focus is on the "main" Nero 14 Installer, which seems to be idle. Then the formerly created Launcher icon disappears and after some time (likely the time it takes to reverse all other former actions) the infamous message "install wizard has been interrupted ..." appears.
In my mind this is a 64-bit architecture related problem with all the intricacies, dependencies, prerequisites, hand-shaking, etc.
Thanks again for your efforts. Will wait for Nero development and their results. -

I am also having difficulty installing Nero platinum 2014 on Windows 8 x64 bit system. It continues to tell me that it needs to install Microsoft XML 4.0 SP3 starts the install process and then fails with the error that MSXML 4.0 failed to install exiting setup. Now the problem here is when I looked MSXML 4.0 SP3 does not apply to Windows 8. I have tried installing it on my system on it's own installed SP2 tried installing in safe mode and it still won't install. And to one comment about tech support they do in fact work on the weekend according to the information for the hotline phone number but who honestly wants to pay 1.29 per minute your on the phone to call them about a product that you paid for. That's really ridiculous if you ask me. But anyone else experiencing this problem.

Nero sent me a little file so it removed all old reg files and then i could install the new nero plat 2014 it works fine.

Your problem is different than the one in this thread so, if you want to pursue it, I recommend you start a new thread. There were similar problems with the installation of v12 and the advice was to install SP2 independent of Nero and then install Nero.
-
-
Lynn- what error did you get with the getsupportfiles utility. The actual cab file should be in the C:\Users\"user name"\Desktop folder.
There are specific steps you must take when runnng the logging files. Did you follow those closely? If so, there should be a log file on your C: drive. I don't remember the exact procedure.- view 1 more comment

That's pretty obvious.

I think that the .CAB file will be placed on the desktop no matter where the download is stored.

I would like to report that much to my disappointment Nero Support hasn't responded to the providing of all kinds of Analysis data yet.
On the bright side, I upgraded to Windows 8.1 yesterday and have successfully installed Nero 14 Platinum a few minutes ago.
Good luck to my fellow sufferers in this and similar threads. -
-
Hey Juergen glad you got yours to work I got an answer after the first set of logs were requested and then after a few days they asked for more before they finally have an answer that doesn't work at all. I emailed twice saying it didn't work but no response!!! Absolutely horrible!!!!!

I am also having problems with the Nero 14 platinum installation. it installed but when I click on the icon..a window pops up saying " The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b). Click OK to close the application. " Now what?

Brett, would you start a new thread? Attempting to keep a coherent dialogue going in the middle of a thread isn't practical. Or, you could add your post to the end of this thread.

I was responding to Craig because he had posted additional correspondence with tech support and the results in another thread.
Development won't respond to your e-mail. Tech support will respond when they have something to tell you. Usually, when things go to development it may take a lot of time to hear back, depending on what has to be done to analyze and fix the problem. I agree it would be nice to know where things stand in the interim.-
Right, it could take months! I will just wait till they have the full solution available in the Control Center updating feature. This way there is no hassle on my part. Maybe we should just wait for the next new Nero 15 and get it for free for those who could not get help or wont install!! :-)

I realize this may take months!!

I want a refund, you guys have provided software not fit for purpose and you have no idea how to fix a basic installation on Windows 7 64bit. I also want to claim for all the frustrating nonsense your support team has put me through. I am a professional and it is a shame that it appears that you aren't.

Wither - you are missing the point! nobody cares what you think or what excuse you make - don't launch a product till you can tend to basic installs because you upset customers that don't want to be part of your development and test team. One would think you were Microsoft in disguise?

Do not relate frequency of postings to being employed at Nero.
Nero employees marked as this and the content of many posts doesn't really help. ;) -

Yes - I have tried your Log exchange, and your "first aid kit" and your support team and the forum suggestions. And NO it don't install after a myriad of attempts including stripping out manually, removing Reg Keys, stopping AV and dealing with Accounts and so on. If it is this hard then you have real problems, don't BS just fix it or recall it.

OK Wither - would you be able to help get Nero to focus on the problem? I am a fan, and love the 2014 potential. Just would like it to work.
-
-
I understand completely. As I've mentioned many times before in the forum, most of these installation problems are system related. Since we don't have access to your nerosupport.cab (don't post it here), we can only deal with symptoms. I don't have (or want) Win 8 so it's especially difficult to try things. You should continue to work with tech support, even if it's a slow process. I don't have any pull with Nero AG in regards to problems.
-
-
I recovered my system in windows 8.1 and then installed Nero with no problem. I then re-installed all my other programs.
-
-
I had the same problem and actually solved it in a few clicks of the mouse.
I am running Win 7 x64 Ultimate on a separate HDD with Windows 8.1 being on my primary SSD with a high end custom build. I assumed that this config was causing my problem. Come to figure out that it wasn't my Dual boot that was causing problems.
After several days trying everything known to man I finally figured it out.
My Process:
1. I activated the hidden Administrator Account in Win 7 (BE CAREFUL DOING THIS, IF YOU ARE A NOVICE THEN I WOULD RECOMMEND THAT YOU DO NOT ATTEMPT). I activated it through (Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Administrative Tools\Computer Mgmt.) ***Doing this through CMD prompt didn't work and added more unneeded files to my system**
2. Then I navigated to Local Users and Groups\ Users.
3. Clicked on Administrator, unchecked Account is disabled,
4. logged off
5. Logged back on into that account
6. Installed Nero 2014 with 0 issues.
Haven't decided if I will continue to use this as my primary account yet (For security Purposes). Anyway hope this helps. -
-
Sorry, I forgot to mention that I didn't have to download any extra installers or change Admin Rights/Compatibility mode etc. My version was Nero Platinum 2014-15.0.02200. I just double clicked install and it worked fine as it did when I installed it on my Win 8.1 SSD.
P.S., I did previously try installing several different install package versions with negative results. Creating yet another user account was problematic, that's why I used the built in Admin account. -
-
Nero sent me a little file so it removed all old reg files and then i could install the new nero plat 2014 it works fine.

Can someone please assist? I'm having difficulty completing an installation of Nero Plat 14 and come up with an error message of "Error 1714. The older version of Nero Blu-ray player cannot be removed. Contact your Technical Support Group. Thanks

Hello Aaron 1969,
The best in this case is for Nero TechSupport to get in contact with the installation log files.
Please contact TechSupport at: techsupport@nero.com
Enter Nero Forum in the e-Mail Subject and send us a link to this Forum entry. Please attach a screenshot displaying the error message and the following information:
To get the installation log files, it will be necessary to manually collect them after the installation process. Start the Nero installation again.
The installation process will be logged and saved into a MSI log file. After the installation of Nero failed, open your Windows Explorer and enter in
the address field %temp%. In the temp directory should be a MSIx.log (x for installationnumber) file. Please send us this log file that we can analyze the failed installation process.
Please also create a logfile with the help of the Getsupportfile. Use the following steps:
http://www.nero.com/link.php?topic_id...
Extract the zipped file on your hard drive using WinZip or WinRAR. Start the tool by double-clicking the EXE-file.-> The “C:\WINDOWS\system32\cmd.exe” window opens. The tool may take several minutes. You can track the single steps in the displayed window.
After the tool has successfully run you will find a file named “NeroSupport.cab” on your desktop. Please send us both file as an e-mail attachment.
Thanks and best regards,

Your programs today are worse than viruses. So far I've manually removed via RegEdit more than 1000 entries after "successfully" uninstalling your software. I've yet to search for "Ahead" or "Showtime" just "Nero" so I wouldn't be at all surprised if I find another 1000 or so entries. If I could figure out a way to sue you for violating my PC I would as software that doesn't work as well as your earliest versions is nothing more than a joke. I downloaded the "Trial" version & wish I would have pressed "Cancel" as soon as there was no "Custom" option but having owned versions 3 & 6.5 or something I thought I'd give you another chance.
WHAT A NIGHTMARE!!!
If your installation process can clutter my registry with 1000's of useless entries - status of backup to my 5th ranked player is nothing short of comical, why not clean up the mess you made by erasing all entries with the uninstall? Oh, I forgot Ahead/Nero couldn't care less about the consumer that buys their products they're so afraid of the few who download pirated versions that they'll screw the honest folks & their PC's, laptops, etc.. I think that was the reason I stopped buying your products years ago.
Please open an office in North America & I'll happily be the first to sue you here. I've removed numerous Trojans & viruses over the years but the "crap" you left on my PC is far greater than everything combined.
CLEAN UP YOUR ACT OR GO OUT OF BUSINESS - PLEASE. -

Howard- is there an actual problem with the trial version or are you just complaining about it leaving registry entries when you uninstalled it?
