.ismv video codex converter
I own several movies I downloaded for a BB Tablet and they are in a format called .ismv. Is there a codex for that so that I can convert it .mp4?
-
That format is a modified mpeg-4.
Put this in your address bar and then download and run it.
http://h264.code-shop.com/download/mp...
Purportedly, it will convert the .ismv to mp4. -
-
ok, so I'm running windows and that doesn't work.
it indicates that it is all the components but not an executable.
Thanks -

Your right. I just ran the download and there's no .exe. I'll have to get back to you tomorrow.
-
-
This is how you're supposed to install it and then convert the file-
To download and install:
cd
wget http://h264.code-shop.com/download/mp...
tar -zxvf mp4split-2.2.0.tar.gz
cd ~/mp4split-2.2.0
./configure
make
sudo make install
The procedure is explained on the code-shop.com Trac Wiki. Then, merging should be as simple as:
mp4split -o output.mp4 input.ismv -

Ok, so the question is, I believe the above process is specific to a 'Linux' environment.
Since I don't have Linux, what are my options.-
Yep, that's what it is. Apparently, there used to be a Windows .exe available, but it doesn't appear to be anywhere now. Perhaps, you can get some help from techsupport@nero.com. Or, keep on Googling!

I'm wondering if one of his files would be recognized if he added .mp4 as an extension.

When Bigasoft Total Video Converter and Microsoft Expression Encoder doesn't work, it's hard to find something that does work.

ISMV file is used by Microsoft IIS web server to deliver one video on different bitrate to Silverlight client over HTTP. This technology is called Smooth Streaming. Actually, ISMV is one kind of MP4 file. The video in it is split into 2-second chunks. Client can request video chunk by chunk.
To publish a video with Smooth Streaming, web master encode the video into several ISMV files with Expression Encoder, each for different bitrate. It will generate one ISM file and one ISMC file to describe information about these ISMV files, one for server and one for client. When Siverlight player plays a video, it request ISMC file at first to know how many bitrate available. Then it request the first chunk of loweast bitrate ISMV file to test network and CPU speed. If speed is enough, it will request following chunks in higher bitrate ISMV file. And it will switch between different bitrate to get highest quality and keep playing smooth at the same time.

hi sweetheart,
I know it may be late for your question but I just solved the problem, so I'd like to share my experience with more friends. I bought a program from the BBC Store and downloaded it. It came to my machine as an .ismv video. Nothing I've got will open or convert an .ismv video file. I searched a lot and this page helped me a lot. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx and then I downloaded its program freely and upload my ismv file to the program and then choose mp4 as output format, everything is done! good luck

ISMV is a video format for Smooth Streaming on a Microsoft IIS server. It is fragmented MPEG-4 files with VC-1 or H.264 for video and WMA 10 Pro or AAC-LC for audio. ISMV stores small parts videos and provides a suitable format for streaming.
ISMV has file format limitation. ISMV videos cannot be played on Windows, Mac, media players, portable devices, or video editing software. To freely play ISMV files, an easy way is to convert ISMV to MP4, convert ISMV to AVI, MOV, FLV, WMV, MPEG, VOB, MKV, MP3 and more with a professional ISMV Converter and ISM Player.
