aac converter

I am trying to get mp4 to mp3 conversion capability so I thought I would install Lame xp audio encoder into Audacity on my Windows 8 laptop. (Currently Audacity can handle wav files but not mp4.) In the middle of installation,I am getting a message that AAC support is disabled until I get Nero AAC encoder. (see attached screenshot) This seems odd as I do not have any Nero products on this laptop, that I know of. There are none in the list of programs in the control panel, unless it has a different name. Anyway, when I click on the link it redirects to a Nero index page, and AAC encoder download is not there. Do I really need it? And if so, where can I find it?
