All fmedia files disappeared! No content at all!

Created a few projects with Nero 2014 Platinum Video. They worked for a few days. Now when I go in to any of the projects there are no media files. The projects themselves are still there. But in the "My Media" / "Videos" or "Pictures" or "Audio" ... NOTHING!! ALL IS LOST!

What happened? Where are my files???

Win 7 64bit. Installed on C:\ drive, all content on C:\ drive when I was able to find it.

Just started using this version and they expect me to pay for tech support. They should tell you that up front. If I don't "Get Satisfaction" you can be sure I'll be letting everyone know about that on Facebook and Twitter!

  • First, you're not required to pay for support. You get free support here and by e-mail. I don't know if the free chat line still exists.

I don't know what fmedia is.

Since you got no messages regarding the location of the files, the files are where they were when you created the project.

Other people have mentioned this (I noticed you posted in one of those threads).

I think you're going to have to send an e-mail to support on this one. However, there are a few things I always ask people to check. First, run the check for updates from the Nero ControlCenter to make sure v14 is up to date. Second, go to Options, Application Settings, Editing. Enable Nero background rendering if it's not enabled. Third, if you created your project in Make Advanced Movie, click on Show and make sure "All" is checked. Other than that, I can't help anymore.

  • Thanks wither 1. I don't know what fmedia is either. I mentioned "My Media"... you know where your videos, pictures and audio can be dragged from into the timeline? that is completely empty, for all my projects. it's as though Nero video lost the info about where to find its own folders.

  • fmedia is in the title of your thread. Probably a typo.

As I mentioned, the location of the files hasn't changed. If they were moved, NV would have popped up a dialogue box telling you it can't find the files and give you the option of browsing to them.

I don't know what information a .nvc file keeps in regards to the characteristics of a file. It finds the files but can't get the metadata to display them.

If you tried those little things I mentioned to no avail, you should send an e-mail to tech support at techsupport@nero.com. Hopefully you will provide the resolution obtained. You wouldn't have to do this if the others had done that.

  • I'll call tech support. I think it must be in another file not an nvc file because these are photos and videos that should show up even for a new project that has never even been saved with a filename.

  • Obviously, if you want to call them, that's your option. Given that other people have had this problem, they just might have the solution on hand. If not, then they'll ask you to e-mail things like the nerosupport.cab file.

  • Downloaded and installed all the latest updates and was able to see the media again. Hopefully a long lasting permanent solution. Does not explain the problem (other than software not fully tested) but at least they do updates that fix problems. Maybe I like Nero again. Been using it since before Nero 6.
