I’m undecided

An experiance...

I was considering purchasing Nero 14 to make and burn DVD's so I downloaded the Platinum trial. It then opened another Nero product to make the DVD.
Unsure if that product was included in the purchase of Platinum I soldiered on...
It couldn't make the DVD as it was only a trail version limited to minutes.
Google free software to create DVD and soldier on...
DVD files created I thought I'd burn with Nero 14.
Oh wait, it will only do 100mb...
Google free burning software...
Thanks Nero you converted a 95% likely customer to free software!
Uninstall trial...

  • Since I don't know what you did, I can't put you on the correct track for doing what you want or explain what happened. There's no question that the full v14 can make and burn DVD's. If you're wanting to create DVD-Video, the raw video files have to be authored to the DVD-Video structure using something like Nero Video. Elsewise, you're just burning a data disc which most standalone players won't play. You can use the Windows apps to do this but they're pretty bare-boned when it comes to formats supported, transitions, effects, etc. In other words, you can what you pay for.

Let me chime in on this older thread. I had trouble with the format selections on CDBurnerXP and wanted to give Nero anther try (I discontinued using it with V7 or 8). It says 15 trial days... However, you can I test burning a CD when the limit is 100 MB? I don't mind the limitation to 15 days (or even 10 CDs or something like that), but not being able to burn a whole CD is just plain out ridiculous!

  • The issue is, how much capability should you provide to people without buying the full product? If Nero gave people full capability in a trial version, they would just use the software for their immediate projects and move on to something else when the trial version expired. I'm sure this is based on their experience since I don't think these limitations were in effect for v11 and earlier. I could be wrong about the versions.

  • Hi guys, just download the free 15 day trail version off nero burning rom 2014, just to see what it is like prior to purchasing the real macoy, I have noticed on the trial when you come to burn or rip a audio cd, it will only allow you just two songs or there abouts to rip/burn onto a audio cd, if that's the case , I can understand that, however would I get the same if I bought the full version, at full cost, can anyone advise please cheers

  • In the full version, the number of songs you can burn as a Audio CD is only limited by the space available on the disc. I hope this answers your question.

I've raised a similar thread myself, but can see now that this has been "answered" here. 100mb? How much capability should you provide on a trial product? How about allowing people to do at least once what they might be interested in the software for to ensure that it works on their machine?

Wither - I know that you are a volunteer from your comments on various threads, but it seems to be you answering everyone's questions so you do look somewhat official. Given this issue, I think that Nero should at least give some kind of official response from a bona fide company spokesperson.

There is no "contact us" live chat or official forum for potential users to join up on, only this user forum. I'm definitely going to be looking for other alternatives before commiting to giving money to a company that has so far just been wasting my time.

  • I've been volunteering here on a daily basis for over 7 years. Nero employee participation has never been consistent. The one Nero employee who has participated the most is working on a project that prevents participation here. So, what you see is what you get.

The chat line was discontinued roughly a year ago. For the highly technical problems reported here, it's highly unlikely that those problems could be handled via a chat line since most of them are system specific and Nero needs to gather information about the system. Where there are specific problems with the software, obviously, a chat line can't resolve those problems.

You don't need large files to test if the software works on your system. Most system problems would be revealed by using large files but, then people without a problem, would be using the software for free to do work that they couldn't do otherwise. Nero isn't much different than Cyberlink or Roxio in this regard.
