Better access to the play Video_TS function on Surface PRO

Nero Media Home can play a DVD copied onto hard disc in order to exclude the noise from a DVD drive.
I drag the catalog with the DVD files from Windows Explorer to the Media Home window.
How will it be on the Surface Pro?
Would not it be easier for users to have a button "play files from directory" ?
The function would also be more visible/accessible.

  • The easiest way to do this is to manually add the folder containing the Video_TS file to the NMH Library which is under Options. Then open Photos and Videos. Click on Find. The folder should be there and clicking on it will show all the files in that folder. All you need to do to play a file is to double click it.

Play a file from directory is not the same as play the Video_TS directory.
I want to play the whole DVD with menus. Using the chapter / chapter back functions. It means that Nero MediaHome must know the DVD structures.
NMH does it because I can drag the DVD Video_TS folder from Windows explorer to the NMH window.
My question is how to do it on the SurfacePro.
The answer in the post above allows to play single vobs as dumb files, without the described DVD functionality.

  • Unfortunately, Nero MediaHome doesn't have the playback controls that were in ShowTime (part of v9 and earlier). That's the reason that some people keep their old Nero versions even if they upgrade. That's assuming that ShowTime is compatible with their operating system. Despite asking for greater controls, Nero has chosen not to add them.

I think the best viewer is VLC Media Player.

Make sure to do a custom installation (when it asks) or you'll end up installing things you might not want. After installation, the first time you use it, it will ask you to update. That's fine.
