I’m Sad cause Nero wants to bang their customers for money on a set-up question...

Can I remove all other versions of Nero from my computer PRIOR to Installing Nero 15 Platinum - Answer is YES!

Why the hell after buying YOUR Nero 15 Platinum product and seeing a VERY limited knowledge base, do I now have to PAY for a brief set-up question to tech support (Cause there is no PHONE NUMBERS ANYWHERE FOR YOUR COMPANY - HINT!!!!!!) ???? Why would I continue to purchase your product - I will be asking myself that question for the next week. If I have any problems installing, I will not even think twice of refunding and calling my credit card company!!! Anyway, I had my one question answered by your fr*$K*& credit card billing tech line... that question was ... Can I install the other two versions of Nero I have prior to installing this version... because that question just does not appear in your knowledge base... go figure!!! To all who really have this question... the answer is YES! Save the $2.50 billing charge!!! Hey Nero... here is a FREE idea for you... charge me $10 extra in you product and give me my first phone call to Nero FREE! Save me a bunch of aggravation, and anger towards you! But then again... who am I just ONE of your LOYAL (until today!) Customers! Fred

  • OOPS! In my anger I mistakenly wrote "install the other two versions of Nero", when I meant to say "UN-Install" any other versions of Nero... they answer is apparently - YES!

  • Yes, you can uninstall all previous versions before installing 2015, but you don't have to. I have 6 versions installed on this hard drive. In addition, do not delete the Nero 11 folder in C:\Program Files (x86)\Nero after you have installed 2015.

The only phone number for support is a pay line. You get free support here, via e-mail to techsupport@nero.com, and at the chat line which is available at http://www.nero.com/eng/support/conta.... Note that the chat line is on GMT+6 and you won't see it in the Support section for the western hemisphere.

  • Wither, thanks for the heads up! Much appreciated. Question: wondering why I cannot delete that program file (x86) after installing 2015. Do you feel I could delete that file if installing 64-bit? Thanks for your reply!

The reason I kind-a want to remove all the other versions is simply the space... unless it truly over-rights those files (making the new install a small foot imprint on the hard drive), then the older Nero programs are a huge slug of unusable space - ya know... your thoughts? Thanks, again! Fred

  • Okay Fred, what are you referring to in regards to "delete that program file (x86)". You can't delete the Program File (x86) folder. I said not to delete the Nero 11 folder. That folder is shared by versions 11-2015 and v2015 should create it if no other versions are installed.

In regards to installing 64 bit, I assumed you have a 64 bit system. If not, the Nero 11 folder would be in C:\Program Files\Nero.

  • Wither... yup! Sorry, for me not being clear! Yes, will not delete the Program File x 86 (of course - :) ). Good to know that if my erasing the prior versions of Nero will delete the Nero 11 folder in the Program File x 86, it will re-create on installing the New Nero 15 Pro. Yes, I have a 64-bit system, that I will be installing the 64-bit version on (did not really check prior to purchasing, but am assuming the Nero 15 Pro is a 64 bit install, for a 64 - bit system... Thanks again! Looks like I am good to go once I clear out those prior version. Will keep my fingers crossed, and report back when I am finished with hopefully some good news on the success of the install. Thanks, again! You are appreciated, my friend! Fred

  • When you uninstall the previous versions, the Nero 11 folder is not deleted. Just like the uninstall of any Windows software, the Windows uninstaller primarily just deletes registry entries, leaving the actual software files/folders in place.

All versions of Nero are run in 32 bit emulation mode on a 64 bit system. That's why the files are in the (X86) directory. I assume you're referring to Nero 2015 Platinum. There's only one version so, don't fret if you can't find more than one.
