Combining multiple videos into a single continuous video

Nero Recode converted the content of a DVD and imported it to a folder in my PC as three separate MPEG-4 files. Can these files be combined so they can be played directly from that folder without interruption (i.e., without two breaks in the action)?

  • Hello Robert,

If you have Nero Video, you can import those files and join them and Export them as a single file.

However, If you simply copied the video_ts folder (I assume it's a DVD-Video disc)from the disc to your hard drive, you can play it, without the breaks, in Nero MediaHome, VLC Player, Windows Media Player etc. You don't even need Nero. Since you were able to recode the files, I assume the disc wasn't copy protected.

  • The disc is not copy protected; it's a Discovery Channel documentary in which I was the principal consultant.

I don't have the Nero Video software but will consider buying it.

FYI I tried copying the entire contents of the VIDEO_TS folder directly from the DVD to a folder on my PC's hard drive. The process bombed at about 91% completion (see attached error message 1). Two of the three VOB files within VIDEO_TS were successfully copied: VTS_01_1 and VTS_01_2; the other VOB file, VTS_01_3, failed.

An attempt using Disc to Device (i.e., a folder on my PC's hard drive) also failed (see attached error message 2).

  • Robert,

Nero Recode will produce the complete video by choosing one of the video formats such as MPEG-4:

It's not clear why you're having trouble copying using Windows after apparently successfully recoding to a folder.

  • Which version of Recode are you using? I'm asking because the ability to detect copy protection varies greatly amongst Nero versions and within a Nero suite. Since this is a Discovery Channel documentary, it doesn't matter if you were a consultant if the project was copy protected by whomever created the disc. That's what it sounds like.

  • I noticed that Robert said that he would "consider buying it." That implies he's using a trial version. One can't work with mpeg-4 in a trial version unless it's less than 30 seconds long.

I don't know what your situation is e10.
