Converting old sony camcorder video to disk using Nero software

I have a bunch of family videos on small disks (Sony DVD-RW 1.4gb) that are from a sony camcorder. The camcorder came with Nero Express 6 software. We never really figured out how to get the videos off the disks and now the software is outdated (it's from like 10 years ago). I don't know which product upgrade to buy that will work with these sony-compatible formats. I'd call and ask but they charge $1.39 or whatever a minute! Sheesh. Out of principle and lack of servicing I'm wondering if someone might happen to be able to help with this obscure issue. Thanks!

  • Hi Heidi-

You get free support here and by e-mail to techsupport@nero.com. They don't support Nero 6 any longer.

One of the problems I have is that some Sony cameras required you to use their software to capture the videos from the camera. I don't know if you have one of those and if you have their software.

What kind of discs are they- mini-DVD? If so, you could open them in Windows explorer and copy the files to your hard drive. Nero Vision has the capability of capturing video from mini-DVDs. I don't know if your Essentials version has the capture feature.
