CoverDesigner help file not loading

When I click on Help, Help topics in Nero coverDesginer I get this message:

Help file not available. We are sorry, but the help file is currently not available in your language.

C:\Program Files\Nero_CoverDesigner_12\Nero 12\Help\NeroCoverDesigner_en-US.chm

That is incorrect because the help file is in the above folder, and if I click on it it works fine.

This could be a registry problem. Anyone know how to get CoverDesginer to open the help file? Any registry fix. I do not want to re-install the program.

    Are you using a standalone CoverDesigner or do you have Nero v12?

    If you have Nero V12, the help files should be in a Help folder in the \Nero\Nero 12 folder. If they're not, then move the help files there.

    If you have a 64 bit system, the Nero folders should be in this path-

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Nero

    Yes, I am using CoverDesigner version 12. It is the one you gave me mid last year sometime. I am using Windows 64-bit and I did not type the path correctly. It is:

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Nero_CoverDesigner_12\Nero 12\Help

    Nero allows you to install programs in any path that they allow, and I have a reason why I installed it there. I did copy the help folder to C:\Program Files (x86)\Nero\Nero 12\Help. It did not work.

    In the registry, there is no reference to a Help folder or NeroCoverDesigner_en-US.chm in the key:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Nero\Nero 12\Nero CoverDesigner

    I did find this key:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer\UserData\S-1-5-18\Components\0A0EEF07F6652AC42938E2BC2D051747

    It has this path in the key:

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Nero_CoverDesigner_12\Nero 12\Help\NeroCoverDesigner_en-US.chm

    That is correct were the help files are, but it is not finding them.

  • Normally, the CoverDesigner Help folder is not within the CoverDesigner folder. I'm going to try installing it on a different hard drive tomorrow to see what happens.

  • I installed the second file I previously gave you and after installation, the Help folder is here-

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Nero\Nero 12\Help

    as I mentioned above, along with the Nero CoverDesigner 12 folder.

    When I ran the help from within CoverDesigner, it worked fine.

  • I am using NERO Platinum 2020, everything is running perfect so far, excepting the ‘Cover Designer’ does not respond or functions. Also, there is no updates for ‘Cover Designer’. After my complain, more than 2 months have passed but no solution. I was told a few times to uninstall and reinstall but has not helped. In December, NERO wanted to correct it remotely – many appointments were made but never appeared! I also downloaded Team Viewer, provided for remote operation I presume. Since this application is used seldom, I am just waiting for some result. My logic for complaining is to inform NERO to improve their product for the future. Even feed back was sent with the help of 'Cloud Computing'!

  • Thanks, Wither, for going to all that trouble.

    My guess is that the Help link in CoverDes.exe is expecting that path. Most people would just let it install there.

    I am not concerned about this and I'm not going to re-install it. Everything is working fine. I can open the NeroCoverDesigner_en-US.chm and view it. Even better, is that I just found this:

    I have downloaded it and placed it in the Help folder. I have then applied a shortcut to it. All is good.

    I think you told me that CoverDesginer 2014 was the last revision and that Nero will not be updating it again. Is this correct?
