...uuuggghh!!, and there is stuff in C:\Users\{User}\AppData\Roaming\Nero\....
Who knows where else you stick yourself into!, really, Nero, is there nothing you can do...??
I'll give it a week, uninstall, eat the loss in $$ and forget you for another 5 years :-/

  • Thank you for your comment / question.

I want control over what is on my machine.

Vendors should not be telling me where things will be, they may suggest and leave the final decision to the licensee.

The only one with such a grip on my throat will be Windows until I fully migrate everything off that platform.

If I need to pay for being lazy and not use the tools on my Linux server, then so be it. Needed to do a quick job and no time to reacquaint myself with those Open Source tools.

Add insult to injury and I can kick myself to death for not having created an Acronis C: drive image before installing Nero :-/

  • The best I can tell is that you installed the standalone version of Nero Video. Was there some kind of problem?

As you know, uninstalling programs from Windows leaves all kinds of entries in the registry and on your hard drive. It's not just a Nero thing. Trying to find and uninstall all these entries is fruitless. About the only way to get rid of them is to wipe the drive and reinstall Windows.
    • Wither 1, thank you again for your response.

Yes I am aware that Nero along with most vendors can't help themselves and leave all sort of garbage lying around which is why I said it's on me.
      "Do it to me once...."

Nero and everybody else have a bagful of lawyers that protect them from their BAD coding practices in their "Small Print" Terms and Conditions.

Your suggestion to wipe the drive and reinstall Windows is a bad one.

(T)otal (C)ost of (O)wnewrship is ridiculous..., for a product that cost me less than US$100 is astronomical.
I will spend at least US$5,000 in time spent (if I am lucky)!

My suggestion is that NERO put in their Marketing boilerplate that ANYBODY planning to install ANY of their products run and Acronis C: drive image backup BEFORE they INSTALL. If they don't have Acronis,(or any reliable alternative ~ many ways to check, i.e. CNET) buy it (It is a good investment).
That would be the honest and honorable thing to do.
    • BTW, I have a license for Nero 14 Platinum,
"The best I can tell is that you installed the standalone version of Nero Video" is incorrect.

      Cheers!

    Han,

User mbaf recently posted, "I tried averything that was on the forums and tried every solutions provided by techsupport@nero.com and all failed except the last one: nero techsupport provide me a zip file called "deleteregfiles" : this worked and I could install Nero.. Others have received files from Tech Support that were referred to as First Aid Kits. I think these programs clean up the registry.

You may be able to get one by writing to techsupport@nero.com and attaching the NeroSupport.cab file which is generated by downloading and running the Get Support Files Tool.

  • I didn't suggest that you wipe the drive and reinstall Windows. I said that about the only way to get rid of those entries is to do that. You would spend hours and hours trying to find and remove all entries and you would have to be a Nero expert to know everything to remove. Ditto for any other programs for Windows.

My comment regarding Nero Video was simply based on the references in your initial post. It was the only Nero app you mentioned.

You still haven't said what if any, problems you've had with Nero 2014 Platinum.

  • Thank you for your reply.

"About the only way to get rid of them is to wipe the drive and reinstall Windows." sounded like a suggestion.

"You still haven't said what if any, problems you've had with Nero 2014 Platinum.", I thought I had been very clear that I did not want ANY Nero files on my C: drive.
While I could give you a detailed account of how much space Nero takes up on the C: drive it would be yet more work for me and Nero will have those numbers already anyway.

"You would spend hours and hours trying to find and remove all entries", not really, I will spend a couple of hours reinstalling the programs since my last Acronis image backup and Nero will be gone.

Nero will have to go on the shelf until they can become what a user wants (I am sure I am not the only one) and I will take my $$$ loss.

Really, you should make all this clear on your boilerplate marketing materials.

    Cheers...!!

  • I don't work for Nero. I'm a volunteer who's been in here almost everyday for over 6 years.

I don't know what you want ("what a user wants") in regards to the software. It's a large program because of all the features. You can send an e-mail to techsupport@nero.com about your concerns.

  • Wither, thank you for clarifying that you are a volunteer,

I explained before what I want..., "not want ANY Nero files on my C: drive. "
Nobody at NERO is bound to listen.

I will get in touch with Tech Support because what Omega Tester suggested, "You may be able to get one by writing to techsupport@nero.com and attaching the NeroSupport.cab file which is generated by downloading and running the Get Support Files Tool.", did not work for me.

If they don't give me the tool to clean it up I will revert to a previous image of the C: drive.

    Cheers!
