End of imported video missing in timeline
When I imported a video into Nero Video, I noticed the last few seconds were missing at the end. Why?
-
Just for information, are you still using v12?
Also, you didn't answer my questions about the overheating problem.
Are you using Make Advanced Movie. If so, and you zoom in when the video is on the timeline, are the last few seconds actually missing?
I don't know how large your video is. If it's less than 5 GB, you could upload it to filedropper.com and post the link provided after the upload is complete. -

Yes, I'm still using Nero 12
The overheating doesn't happen for certain rendering processes now if I use the cold packs in a cold room. (The PC is a refurbished HP EliteBook 8440p with 8 GB Ram. Processor: Intel Core i7. Specs: M 620 @ 2.67 GHz.)
I was using Advanced Editing and the last few seconds are missing in the timeline.
PS: I also notice when doing short test vid exports I notice the picture quality is inferior even when using MPEG4/MP4 (Same thing?) settings with the source video of the same filetype. Should I install the Tuneup Utilities I got when I installed Nero? -
-
I'm not going to comment about TuneItUp. I don't use it. I use Norton 360 on my systems which provides pretty good cleanup of the hard drive and registry. On my older system, I also have an older Norton version (System Premier 9) which does the same thing and can do all kinds of diagnoses. If you're running something like the Windows Disk Cleanup utility periodically and are having Windows automatically defrag your system, that's about all you can to help with the encoding (I assume you have lots of free space on your hard drive).
Version 12 had all kind of anomalies that weren't fixed via updates. I don't remember that this was one of them. The only way I can tell is to try to reproduce the problem and, for that, I would need your file so that we're on the same page. I don't save files that people give me. When I get the time, I periodically go through and delete, delete, delete, .......................:)
Most people get into trouble with picture quality when they try to encode from a low resolution to a higher resolution. If the resolution of the original files is the same as that chosen for the export, you shouldn't see any difference. (obviously, there's other considerations such as bit rate, compression, etc.) -

"I'm not going to comment about TuneItUp. I don't use it"
The TuneUp Utilities (NOT TuneItUp) isn't a Nero product? -
-
TuneUp is a AVG product. Sorry I missed that when reading your post. :(
Nero has rebadged some independent software but I don't think this is one of them. One can never be sure. -

I tried making a video of the imported vid with the missing ending combined with the vid of the next section, but the rendering is faulty with errors such as only playing the first few seconds and then stopping.
You sent me the download email from when I had to redownload Nero back in august. I only downloaded the main program. Do I need to download the other 2 as well to get the newer codecs?

Just a reminder. I'm not a Nero employee and don't normally e-mail people in the forum so I'm not sure what you're referring to in regards to the e-mail. The download at nero.com, downloads, previous product downloads, Nero 12 versions, is the complete program. There's nothing else to download.
I found this in regards to Tuneup-

Again, it's a AVG product.
Incomedia Website x5 has nothing to do with Nero either.
In reality, there's really nothing any of us in the forum can do in regards to the problem because there's not going to be any updates to v12 and Nero doesn't support v12. We have to work with what Nero gives us. As I mentioned earlier, you could provide one of your problem files to us and we can give it a try not only in v12 but other versions. -

After it uploads, it should ask you if you want to share a link. Copy the first one here.

The filedropper uploader isn't working. The uploading process just hangs. Do I have to actually sign up for it to work?

I uploaded two combined sections of videos as a .wmv file to YouTube. It has errors (only plays the first few minutes and is overstretched) but here it is for you to download and analyze as a substitute for the Filedropper upload.

I'm afraid I need your original file. You don't need to sign up for filedropper. When you open it you should just click on Upload and than browse to your file. The file size limit at filedropper is 5 GB. Depending on your connection speed, this could take a while. You can use other websites for this that provides a link if you wish.

The file is only 3.5 MB in length. Not long enough to play. In GSpot, it says it's unneeded 3.56 MB at the end of a file.
Perhaps you'll try again. -

Out of curiousity, how large was the file you uploaded?

Andrew L,
I was able to recode your file using Nero Recode and other programs such as the free XMedia Recode program. Recoded version here.. -
-
It still doesn't play properly. It only plays the first few seconds of an hour long video I made of two 30-minute vids spliced together I sent you to show the chopped-off seconds at the end of first vid segment which should be right in the middle.
Which is why I started this thread in the first place. This (new) exporting issue isn't even the main problem I'm trying to solve here. Now I have to fix this first before I can even get to that. -
-
Thanks for explaining the very short clip you uploaded.
In the beginning, you said it was chopping a few seconds off the end. Now you're saying it only plays the first few seconds of a 60 minute video. Would you provide a screenshot of the timeline in Make Advanced Movie when you have the two videos imported and all edits made.-
I deleted my comment.

Nothing unusual there.
Does it play properly on the timeline? What are you selecting after you click on Next?
Does it play properly in the preview window after the menu editing screen? -
-
It plays properly on the timeline, and I exported as an .wmv file.
I exported another version yesterday as an .mpeg2 and it worked fine. I'll try to send you that to solve the cutting off problem. -
-
I tried to upload the vid but I can't as it's a 12.4 GB file! How does a 1 hour, mpeg2 file end up being so large??

Andrew,
The size of the video depends on many factors, such as, format, bitrate, resolution, etc. For example, here is the basic data from the free MediaInfo program for the same 20 minutes of video encoded in two different formats:
Also, it appears that you are trying to upload the result of your compilation instead of the source files?
It may help for you to provide more information:
1. The actual source videos uploaded and a list of the steps that you take that result in the difficulties.
2. The output of the MediaInfo program for your source files and the output file. Alternatively, screenshots of the metadata available after importing the files to Nero Video (Double-click the imported file's thumbnail and then click on the Metadata tab).
3. What goal do you have in mind? DVD? -
