I’m frustrated

Export error

Using Nero Vision 2014 and getting 'Error occurred during export operation'. By experimentation this seems to be caused by putting in text as an effect (when I remove the text it exports fine). It plays perfectly well in the preview. It is only a very small clip.

Any text effect? Specific text? Have you tried the Nero sample video?

  • Just simple single line static text. Not sure what you suggest I do with the sample video. I have made a number of videos and not had any problems until I tried adding text. Will try other text effect to see if it makes any difference

  • John:

If you make a simple project using only the Nero Flower Meadow video and a text effect and have a problem, it would make a good test case for others. Otherwise, it would help if you could upload the problem video to hotfile.com, SkyDrive, etc.

    John:
I think I did the same thing without a problem using the Single Line Static Text effect. It exported successfully. If you put a background image on Video 2, does that work?

The only other thing I could think of is that you're using a non-standard font but it looks like you're using the default Arial.

  • I just created two simple projects using the flower meadow video and the spherical text effect. I used two different fonts. I exported to AVC. Both were successful.

The screenshot you posted showing the export screen is too small to see the settings.

  • I’m frustrated
Same problem for me with Nero Platinum 2015 HD. Nero Video export fails regardless of the selected target file format. I've tried the default AVC with Hardware Acceleration (AMD Radeon 7650M Mobile Graphics, latest WHQL video driver).

Other Video Export attempts to MP-4, MP-4 H.264, and choosing the default 59.98 FPS and 30 FPS, All produce the identical "unable to export file" error.

I then tried selecting the apparent default settings for Export to the NVEExport.xxx, but still no go.

All file target directories are in my personal Videos folder. In every case, Nero Video creates a 0 byte file in the target directory. Deleting the zero byte file before attempting another Video Export makes no difference.

Closing segment uses scrolling Credits text and Planewalker TTF font. Based on other comments in this thread, the two most likely culprits are the scrolling multiline Credits text segment and/or the Planewalker fonts which works perfectly with all other applications.

Similar scrolling Credits text with Planewalker worked perfectly with Nero Platinum 2014 HD.

OS: Windows 8.1 running Desktop Mode using StarDock's Start8. 1 TB HD, 38% free. Windows Updates and all drivers are current. All Nero Platinum HD Updates are current.

The Video Projects are edited Video Capture game play files. I use Nero Video (2015) to arrange the video clips, add photos, and typically have a scrolling Intro Title roll using Credit, ultimately ending with scrolling Credits using the Credits text function.

Export target is MP-4 H.264, 1024 x 768, 30 FPS for ultimate upload to YouTube. (Export to Social Media function produces more issues than Export to file in my experience.)

I've also submitted supportfiles.cab to Nero Tech Support and awaiting response. The same problem occurred in the initial release builds of Nero Platinum 2015 HD, but was never fully resolved so I created a new Support Request.

I've used Nero since DOS days with excellent results creating semi-professional DVDs, Blu-Ray discs, and YouTube videos, so am no "newbie" to video production. I'm hopeful this Export Video problem can be resolved!

  • I’m frustrated
P.S.: Source videos are MKV video captures converted with Nero (2015) Recode to MP-4 H.264.

I forgot to mention that I also add simple transitions between video clips, but that's no biggie and probably does not affect Export to File.

  • I'm getting the same issue with Nero Video 2016 (17.0.17). It won't export whenever any text effects are added to the video. It doesn't matter what export format I choose. If I remove the text effects, it works fine.

Are there any known fixes? I'm surpised Nero haven't fixed this yet, since it seems to have been around for a few versions.

  • Sorry for the delay in responding.

I had deleted the original source videos, but I recreated using the Flower Meadow.

I dragged Flower Meadow into the timeline. Then I dragged in "Static Text" and repositioned the text at the bottom of the screen. Then I went to export. Regardless of format, I get an export error. I've tried exporting as AVC and mp4, with and without hardware acceleration.

In case it's useful, the graphics card is a Radeon R9 390.

It doesn't work with: avc, mpeg4. Frustratingly, it was these two that I tried initially, so I had assumed it was broken for all formats.

Serial looks fine for Nero 2016 Platinum. (See screenshot.)

  • I was sitting on the back porch this morning having a smoke and a cup of coffee and thought about what I had asked you. I realized it was a dumb question because you can export mpeg-4 as long as you don't use the text effects. :(

The only thing I can do is look at the log file to see if something jumps up.

If you would, recreate your project using your mpeg-4 and the static text. Instead of exporting it, continue on to create a DVD-Video and burn it to your hard drive.

Assuming you will get the error, please go here-

    C:\Users\"your username"\AppData\Roaming\Nero\Nero 17\Nero Vision

Open the neroburnserverlog.txt file and copy it's contents and paste them here.

Note that a "Reply" box in the forum can only contain a certain amount of text. As a result, you won't be able to get all the contents in one box. After the first paste operation, check to see where the log ends in the box. Then copy and paste the remainder into one or more "Reply" boxes, as necessary. It usually takes 3.

  • Darren,

Since you are able to export MPEG-2 videos, I'm a little confused about the request to make a DVD and that it failed when you did!

Above, Wither 1 suggested writing to Tech Support. Have you done that?

    Support Issues
Help with issues involving recent Nero versions can be obtained directly from Nero by using the email contact form at Technical Support via e-mail. This requires a valid product serial number which has the form XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX (8 groups of 4 characters/digits separated by dashes. Note: The serial number will not have the letter 'O'. Since this is a public forum, DO NOT post your serial number. If your serial number is not accepted, use the contact form at Nero Customer Service.

There have been many similar complaints concerning the current and other Nero versions. One such complaint is in topic Nero Video - Cannot export to MPEG-4 format. In that topic, there is an error shown in the NeroExportServerLog.txt file found in folder C:\Users\Armand\AppData\Roaming\Nero\Nero 2016\Nero Vision on my system (replace 'Armand' with your username).

Also, these issues usually result in a failure entry in the Windows Application Event log. Here's the start of the text of one:

    Log Name: Application
    Source: Application Error
    Date: 2/8/2017 12:55:32 PM

  • I looked at both logs and the problem is elusive. In one, it aborted because it couldn't register the process (whatever that means). In the other, it aborted after it said that the location of the DVD-Video structure files was undefined.

For information, is your D: drive the equivalent of a normal C: drive?

In the logs, it says you're in the US but it loaded a PAL file (the log you gave me apparently uses the Flower Meadow file when I wanted you to use the mpeg-4 files in your original project) so, please advise where you are. I don't know what region your blu-ray drive is set for.

The other issue is that the firmware for your drive seems to be out of date. Is your system from one of the major brands like Dell or HP and did the drive come with it?

  • Okay, thanks guys. There's a few questions there, so I'll try to cover them all.

Did I try Tech Support? No, not yet. After an initial Internet search, this was the first place that popped up, so I thought I'd try my luck here. And also, since this forum has produced a valid workaround - i.e. use WMV - I hadn't yet bothered to try an alternative route.

Okay, so when I export and get the export error, there is no event or error created in the Windows\Application Event Log. However, there is error in the NeroExportServerLog.txt. Note, the same export works fine if I remove the text.

    To Wither's questions...

Yes, I keep the D drive for application installs. I find this makes it easier as and when I want to put in newer or larger had disks.

I'm not in the US, I'm in the UK. So, DVD region would be region 2.

You mention the drive firmware. I didn't actually try to burn to the drive, as I was only burning the DVD-Video to HD. But, to answer the question: it's a bespoke build, from PCSpecialist. The Bluray burner is an LG.

Right, gotta and run and make lunch for wife and kids.

    Cheers folks.

  • When you're in the editing screen, click on Options, Application Settings, Save. Where are temporary files being saved?

The last firmware I see for your drive is 1.03 and the drive says it's using 1.00. The earliest I see is 1.01. Sometimes, the big computer vendors modify the firmware of drives that accompany their systems so the numbers could be different than what I see. That's why I asked you about the vendor.

I have a different LG blu-ray drive and I use the earliest firmware because some people with the same drive identify problems that I don't have because they're using the later firmware.
