exta margines on portrait footage to fit landscape; how do i get rid of it?
when importing portrait footage nero video (2019) makes it landscape by adding coloured margines on both sides to make it fit. I do not want it. If I cut to the original proportions i am left with a line of the landscape form. How do I import plain landscape? So with nothing on the sides, so I can put 2 portrait files next to each other eg.?

Hi Brom-
The common aspect ratios of video is either 16:9 or 4:3 and those are the allowed settings in Nero Video. If your photos have a different aspect ratio than one of those, bars will be added to maintain the aspect ratio. You can change the color of the margins to black if you start out in Make Slide Show or Make Express Movie. In Make Advanced Movie, you can either change the color of the margins when it shows what you're seeing or you can overlay the the black margins with a blank picture that has whatever color you want. Depending on the aspect ratio of your photos, you can also change whether the margins are on the side or the top/bottom by changing the Movie Options to 4:3 or 16:9 by changing the scaling.
We can provide more help with that.
Maybe you would provide a screenshot of your project. -

Hi, yes I did.
I actually already replied via the return button on usual email but unfortunately this didn t reach you. So this is what I wrote:
I now see I just need to put out the Black Margin item in the features section (in Advanced film), (did not know what that was) and the margins dissappear ! Great. That is what I wanted. And here I can also manipulate with these margins, that's great too.
So thank you !

Both 16-9, 4-3;
But concerning files I have another question.Why can't I use H.265 files on Nero Video? These file codec excists already quite a few years and is much more compressed so much easier to work with. And since I bought a 2019 VIDEO! editing program (so especially for VIDEO) it is strange that this is excluded, isn't it? Can Nero AG not just update the programme? Instead I need to buy another expensive upgrade with features I do not need at all. I do not think this is really fair to customers, do you?
So maybe you could put this through to the management?
Thx. -

if I remember correctly, the ability to use HEVC was introduced in v2017. If you want to discusss a problem with that, please start a new thread.
