File loaded without last part of video

When I import a file ".avi or .mpg" of about 20minutes in Nero to create a Dvd-video, the file is loaded without last 3 minutes. I don't understand why as the video is correctly readeble on my pc or tv and all the others files are loaded correctly. Thanks for your help!

  • In addition, if you click on More, Configure and the Editing tab, is Nero background rendering enabled? If not, enable it.

  • I don't know the exact version as I haven't the box, I bought the web version, but I'm sure it is not the Platinum version.
I've just enabled Nero background rendering but it seems it doesn't import correctly the video.

  • gnoxs,

To determine the version of Nero Video that you are using, click on the '?' in the lower left corner. If you do not have version 12.5.4000 as shown below, check for updates in ControlCenter, check all boxes, update your Nero product, and retry importing your file.

  • Done! I have the same version you showed me (12.5.4000).
I'm using Windows Vista, this info could help you us to find a solution?
So I have nothing to update, right?

  • gnoxs,

Would it be possible for you to upload a problem file to one of the cloud services and provide a link in this topic? If others can replicate your difficulty, it may help; if others cannot replicate your difficulty, that may also help!

  • You said that this only happens with some file, while other files are loaded correctly.
So, the reason could be a problem inside this files - where are this file come from?
Can you upload the files somewhere, or are they copyrighted?

  • I uploaded them in a Usb support and I saw them on my tv through a tv decoder, and they worked correctly. They are a files of a serial tv that one of my friends gave me, he registered them from his tv and so they are not copyrighted.
Infact I had this problem only with 2 files...

  • gnoxs,

If you have Nero Recode, have you tried importing the problem videos into it?

Will you be uploading one of the problem files to the cloud. Note that broadcast TV is generally copyrighted!

  • I agree with Omega Tester and Jens in regards to loading the file to some website that we can download the file from. There's no reason that a portion of the video shouldn't load. I suggested the Nero rendering option because I thought that, possibly, the last the three minutes were being held up because of the time to render it.

  • I will try to upload the problem videos into Nero Recode and I’ll revert back to you this evening.
If Nero Recode test will fail, I’ll try to upload the files into a cloud (never done...).
I know that broadcast TV is generally copyrighted but all the others files are shown correctly on my pc/tv and they belongs to the same source.

  • Hi! I've just uploaded the two files on Nero recode. I can see them correctly but if I try to decode them from .mpg to .avi and save them on my pc, it appears the following message: "Impossible to made the encoding. The file is not valid or it is damaged."
So the problems I'm having with Nero Video are beacuse of the files, right?
Is it strange that I can show them correctly on pc/tv but I cannot copy them on Nero?

candy015: the video stopped at about minute 14.20 , I can heard the sound but the video stopped in that point.
I hope you can show the files...

I tried Recode 2014 and got the same error that you did just as the encoding was completing on two separate tries. Because of previous problems like this with files that were definitely not defective, I think this is a problem with Recode.

    • Addendum:

I tried converting the file with VLC. It went through the motions but nothing came of it.

I was able to upload it to YouTube. [Link removed since it is irrelevant after the below].

I'll be removing the video fairly soon just in case it is copyrighted.

I also "replicated" it in Nero 2014 Video. The result was able to be recoded by Recode 2014 and VLC.

  • gnoxs,

Wither 1 has discovered an almost 4 minute difference between importing your Candy 6 file into Nero 12 Video vs Nero 2014 Video. I have verified that and made a DVD using each. I imported both .VOBs into Nero 2014 Video. See the image below. Note that there is no audio for the last ~4 minutes of the Nero 12 VOB. That may mean something!

Perhaps, Jens will have some ideas. Or, maybe he can refer the matter to Tech Support since everything is right here in this topic.

  • The generel problem here seem to be, that the duration of the video-part differes from the audio-part.
    This is what mediainfo displays:

    General
    Format : CDXA/MPEG-PS
    File size : 219 MiB
    Duration : 21mn 51s

    Video
    ID : 224 (0xE0)

    Duration : 21mn 51s
    [...]

    Audio
    [..]
    Duration : 21mn 42s
    [...]

This is very unusual and seems to confusion nero video - for me it looks like nero video does only import the part where audio and video is present.
Normally, Audio and Video chunk should have the same length.

I will forward this to the nero video developers.

In Nero Video12, it imports at a duration of about 1 second longer than the audio. In Nero Video 14, it imports at a duration of about 1/2 second shorter than the audio.

  • Very strange. MediaInfo identifies that this file has a video duration of 21:52 and audio duration of 21.42. When I import it into NV v12, it shows as 21.42. When I import into NV v14, it shows as 1 hour 18 minutes. However, in either case, they both play it back to 15:28 and then the video stops. In v14, when it gets to a little over 30 minutes, the video starts playing again. Note that it won't play all the way through to the 30 minutes. I had to move the positioner manually.

I tried recoding it to mpeg-4 in v14 Recode but it failed because it was either not a valid file or it was damaged.

When I play it in NMH, it says the duration is 21:43 and it plays correctly.

I notice that this is "cdxa"/mpeg-ps. I don't know if the issue is the "cdxa". I find all kinds of things about it on the web but don't understand it completely. Perhaps something that Nero Video has a problem with.

  • MediaInfo on all three is essentially the same

My results are different, but I'll have to post later.

  • gnoxs,

Your videos appear to all be TV programs with a length of about 22 minutes. Is that correct?

  • In NV 14, I went through and cut everywhere it it stopped the video and continued the video. Note that these were rough cuts but when I got done, I had a video of 21:48 and it played properly (I had to coax a little at the junctions of the cuts). I didn't try doing anything in v12 in this regard.

  • Focus on Candy 06.mpg

gnoxs has indicated that all three videos uploaded for this topic are recordings of a ~21:43 TV program. (None are ~25:27!). Hopefully, I didn't make a mistake!

Plays in Nero MediaHome 21:43 to FINE!

Plays in VLC 21:43 to FINE!

    Plays to FINE in QuickTime.

Successfully converted to 21:42 .mp4 by handshake. The .mp4 plays to FINE.

Recode 2014 fails as it completes encoding. However, it will succeed if the video is trimmed to 00:19:00.000.

Imports in Nero 12 Video as a ~25:27 video:
    a. Drag to the timeline; it plays to FINE, audio/video in sync. In other words, both audio and video are stretched somehow from ~21:41 to ~25:27.
    b. Drag to the timeline and export as a video, the result has ~25:27 of video ending with FINE, but the audio does its own FINE at ~21:43.
    c. Drag to the timeline, unlink audio/video, delete video, and export audio. The result is ~25:27 audio that plays from start to FINE in the first ~21:43.
    d. Drag to the timeline, unlink audio/video, delete audio, and export video. The result is ~25:27 video that plays from start to FINE.

Imports in Nero 2104 Video as a ~21:41 video, but is a truncated version of what is seen in Nero 12 Video. In other words, if not truncated at ~21:41, it would FINE at ~25:27:
    a. Drag to the timeline; it plays with audio/video in sync but does not FINE at 21:41. Instead, it plays as in Nero 12 Video up to 21:41 and stops.
    b. Drag to the timeline and export as a video, the result has ~21:41 of video NOT ending with FINE, but the audio does its own FINE at ~21:41.
    c. Drag to the timeline, unlink audio/video, delete video, and export audio. The result is ~21:41 audio that plays from start to FINE.
    d. Drag to the timeline, unlink audio/video, delete audio, and export video. The result is ~21:41 video that plays from start NOT to FINE.

  • gnoxs,

I have converted all three of your files to two different formats using another vendor's trial software. They are zipped up and can be downloaded from here (~500 MB).

Please have a look at them to see if they are correct - I am unable to understand the audio! If they are, you might want to mention that fact to Tech Support.
