How to divide (SPLIT) a single video-clip into separate parts?

I have purchased and upgraded many versions of NERO since first receiving a complimentary version of number 6 years ago.

Unfortunately, I still find myself using the NERO video-editors from version 9 – since subsequent versions made simply, quick editing remarkably complicated. Nevertheless, I’m trying to complete some video-editing on version 12. I’d also tried this on version 10. I’ve done numerous fruitless Google-searches for help with my question, but have found nothing.

All I need to know is HOW TO SPLIT A VIDEO-FILE INTO PARTS? In the past versions (like 9), there was an actual “split-button” as an option. All I see now is complicated “mark-in, mark-out” options?

Please help me out with this? I’ve been tempted to remain updated with your most recent software. Yet, with each upgrade, things have become more and more complex with your editor – making it virtually useless to small-time users like me. But if you can instruct me how to perform a simple task like splitting a clip in half, I think I’ll look forward to upgrading to your most recent version.

Thanks so much for your assistance everyone!
