How to remove applications not used or desired
I do not use applications from within Nero, how do I remove them?
-
Hi Mark-
Which application do you use? Also, which version do you have. -
-
Thank you for the reply. As I just use Nero for CD & DVD copying, ripping I see no need minimally for the following:
Nero Duplicate Manager
Nero Media Home
Nero Media Browser
Nero Video
Nero Cover Designer
Nero Rescue Agent
Nero BackitUp
Nero WiFi Transfer
Any help will be appreciated!

You didn't tell me what version you're using. Are you actually using a suite since you didn't mention Recode? I assume you're using Burning Rom.
In general, selectively uninstalling the different applications from a suite would require registry and file deletions for each one. There is a way to disable those individual apps but it doesn't uninstall them. Depending on the Nero version, there may or may not be the opportunity to specify which applications you want to install during the installation of the suite. If that's available, the best way to achieve what you want is to uninstall the suite and then reinstall using that option. That won't remove all the application files but most (not all) of the files are in C:\Program Files (x86)\Nero for a 64 bit system and can be removed manually. I can help you with that but I need the information I asked for. -

I have the most recent 2020 installed, which did not provide an opportunity for selective installation as did previous editions. I use Recod and Burning Rom, everything else is not needed.Where is the option for selective installation?

I'll take your word for it since I would have to try to reinstall it to see if there's a Customize option. If it's not there, then it's going to install everything. That answers your question.
I don't know where you want to go with this. Are you concerned about disk space or is the presence of the other apps just an annoyance? If we could uninstall those apps, they would still be on the Smart screen but greyed out. -

There is always the possiblity that I missed something during installation, however, I am not interested in uninstalling and reinstalling either. So, I will just delete the things that I don't want from the Menu and drag icons to the desktop for those that I do use.
Thanks! -

I think you have the plan but, out of curiosity, how can you delete things you don't want from the menu?
By the way, I tried the re-installation yesterday but it just started installing the prerequisites and apps without any chance to customize it. -

Thanks for trying the reinstall. I deleted the items from the Windows start menu. You cannot do a thing modifying anything within Nero. Given that my needs are simply to Rip DVD\CD's, copy DVD\CD's and on occasion do a disc to the device, I plan to investigate other less costly or free alternatives to Nero.

Since you already have Nero, why do you need to look elsewhere? There likely won't be any significant changes in the future to the apps you use so spending money to upgrade to another version doesn't make any sense. As mentioned, you were going to create shortcuts for your desktop to the .exe files for the apps you use. No need to use the Start menu.

I always tell people that if the version they have does what they want, then there's no need to upgrade. Obviously, the folks at Nero would rather that people upgrade since they can't make any money using that philosophy. I get all the upgrades since I need them if I want to help people here in the forum. I would have probably stopped at v2015, elsewise.
