  • So where did you get the name Vinyljunkie-

    This is the original-

    I'm also a vinyljunkie.

I'm not exactly sure what you need-

If you mean a mp3 plug-in, you shouldn't need one unless you want mp3 pro. If you have the full v9, you should already have it.

If you mean, how do you convert to mp3, that's a different matter. The CDA's are on an audio CD. You can just use StartSmart, Audio Ripping and select the mp3 format.
I don't remember if that creates a single file from all the files on a cd. If it does and you want individual mp3's, then open Burning Rom and select New. In the Extras tab, select Save Audio Tracks to........... Specify mp3 in the output.

    Does this help.

  • I have nero 9 reloaded when I go to convert cda's to mp3's it says I need a dedicated plugin I know it says plugin. I know my other pc with nero 7 does this fine. I recently reloaded nero after a unrelated pc problem(had nothing to do with nero) my pc died in the middle of updates so I restored my pc. I don't ever remember using nero 9 to do this before so it may never have worked. I have the latest updates for nero 9 I have not installed yet. I want to try to fix it before I update.

VinylJunkie came from, I collect record albums and when I went to sign in to the other nero forum I just used that no reason nero is related to music.

  • I collect 45's. Have lots of albums too. Good old Cub Koda died at a young age about 15-20 years ago. I think that picture is J. Fred Muggs that used to be on the Dave Garroway show.

I suspect you're installing from the disc. Go to nero.com, downloads, previous product downloads. Download the v9 update and install it. Use your purchased serial number during the installation.

If you have a problem installing the update, use the Nero General Clean Tool (not Control Panel) to uninstall v9. Then install the update.

I think problem solved I was using start smart-create and edit-create audio files..First I click add and set the file type to all files to see the cda files then add my files. It had a window popup when I tried to add cda files and said one or more files could not be added for encoding. It may be possible that files can be added if a dedicated plugin is installed. Using your method worked ok. and the encoder window does work with some other file types. So what do I need to make the encode files window accept cda (files from a cd.)
thanks again for all your help.

You can't encode a .cda. That's just a file created by Windows to identify the media on the disc. An audio cd doesn't contain audio "files", per se, such as on an ordinary data disc. The music is only there as pits on the disc. That's why Windows needs the .cda to identify them.

By the way, your description of how to reply is correct. The forum just makes the next post box visible for the next person who wants to reply.
