If i buy a download of Nero Classic can I back it ip to a CD?

If I purchase a download of Nero 2016 Classic, can I make a backup to a CD? Is it just just a case of copying the downloaded file to the cd or is the downloaded file a downloader/installer? Thanks

  • And if I download it, then have to refresh my pc would I be able to install Nero again? Do I have to keep my product key safe to be able to reinstall?

  • Hi Gareth,
Yes, you need to keep the product key safe. (serial number)

It would be 39 characters long including the hyphens.

There is actually no need to make a backup of the Nero software, because you can always download the installer from the Nero downloads website.

(For previous versions, those are available on the Previous Products page)

    Here for example:

    http://www.nero.com/enu/downloads/pre...

For the 2016 version, the "Trial" installer can be used.

The "Trial" version stub installers can be used to install, because when you add your serial number - either during the installation, or after via the Nero ControlCenter / Serial Numbers / "Add" button, it turns into the fully paid for version.

    Here for example:

    http://www.nero.com/enu/downloads/

You are able to re-install the software up to 5 times before it would become "locked" but you can only have one active version per serial number, so if you have to re-install it, you need to un-install it from any other computer afterwards, and if you receive a pop-up window asking why you are re-installing it, you can say "Permanent Transfer" or "Technical reasons" for example.
