Importing widescreen video from DVD, not showing widescreen in express editing

Hi,

hope someone can help with this issue I have.

Importing widescreen video from a dvd into 'express editing' but once imported the video thumbnail in the 'my media' window on the left is not showing as widescreen and by previewing the video its also not in widescreen. The video footage is looking tall. Movie Options in settings is selected to 16:9. If I import a widescreen video not from a dvd the video is in widescreen its just importing from a dvd I have this issue.

The footage I'm importing off the dvd is family stuff I recorded in widescreen and burned on dvd straight from video camera to a dvd recorder and now I want to take this footage off and re edit it. I like nero as it keeps the source quality when reburning to dvd after editing. I didn't have a problem with the family dvds in 4.3 but now these dvds are in widescreen nero is having a problem with.

Also, please check out the following general suggestions:

In most cases, it is helpful to provide information on the problem source video. Probably the easiest way to provide detailed data on a video is to paste the data from the clipboard after following instructions in topic Use MediaInfo in Your Browser. Alternatively, uploading a video to one of the cloud services and pasting a link to the file enables others to download the file and try to replicate the issue.
It never hurts to also indicate:

    • The Nero application title and version.
    • The Windows version.
    • Graphics device
    • Project screenshots if applicable
    • Screenshots of error dialogs, if applicable
    • Output video parameters, such as format, resolution, quality, etc.

For recent versions of Nero, official support can be obtained directly from Nero:

I tried stretching it in Nero 2019 Recode and got an error:

I was able to stretch it horizontally in Nero 2019 Video Advanced Edit and export it:

    Export from Nero 2019 Video

    It gets more bizarre!

I imported into the free XMedia Recode:

I'm on my way out the door. If you have a recent version of Nero Video, perhaps their Tech Support can help you further.
    • Correction

In my hurry yesterday, I missed that XMedia Recode actually did export the 16:9 when the Video component was converted instead of copied. I would also note that selecting VOB output (and convert video) was the only way that I found to see the video as 16:9. Other formats play and export the video as 4:3.

Here's 30 seconds (00:00:30:00 to 00:01:00:00) of the converted output:

The same 30 seconds of the copied output:

Excellent, thanks very much! I would never have though of doing it that way, I have not really used the Advanced Editing section, ive been in it and looked around but failed to notice the Effect Palette when I went in it yesterday.

Anyway clad now I can stretch the video without any cropping, now I can get on with my video editing!

Thanks again, you were a great help last night!
