I’m still unhappy

Intractable Nero

Nero 12.5 crashed my system with the blue screen of death. this happened while attempting to recode a video. I then had 4 video driver failures after the restart from the blue screen warnings...My time means more to me than the effort it would take to use Nero 12.5... It is no my problem to have to make their software work.
Once I removed the offending Nero 12.5 my system is back to normal.
Nero will not refund and I will not bend my brain to do a work around...I should not have to.
Windows 7 64 big
6 core amd cpu.
12 gb ram.
128 mb ssd boot drive.
1 tb. meck drive.
2 dvd burners.
650w corsair ps.
His 7770 vid card.

Nero is intractable and will not refund...their poor excuse for software was removed from my system and I went back to Nero 8 and have no problems.
Even when Microsoft put out windows 8 and I purchased it for my desktop...then found out it was not truly suited for this function when first released they said "No problem" and the refund came...Nero staff will not bend and they must need my 39.99 bad ...or it could be that if they admit a problem they are afraid that the flood gates will open and the rush will be on....for all the many others that have had problems will want a refund also.
Oh...and Nero pulls my posts and states that they are abusive...
Is the polite truth abusive? Me thinks not..They just will not "Man up" and refund.

  • What does the bluscreen exactly says? The bluescreen should display what modul failes.

    • I can only tell you the facts...Nero used to recode..Then crash...4 more crashes of video drivers doing the same thing...attempted recode...
Removed the software and no more crashes.
I will not spend my time fixing Nero problems...it either works or is not working...
Just man up and send the refund
    • @BeBiMa:
Nero Recode does not use any kernel-mode components or installes own driver.
Of cause, if e.g. hardware-acceleration is enabled, the drivers of the grafic-card are used. So it could be a problem of the graficcard driver

@Don: As written: Normaly, refunds are only offered if a problem could not be solved.

So, if you want a refund, please first contact the technical support and let them analyze the problem.

  • Normally, if a system shuts down to prevent damage, it normally means to prevent damage to the cpu because of overheating. However, it's possible that the GPU is overheating. Make sure all your fans are working and that all vents are clean and the fan blades are clean.

I ran into a similar problem on my Dell Workstation. I thought it was caused because I was blocking the vents on the bottom when it was on my lap. However, the real reason was that the fan was not ramping up on my graphics card under load. Reinstalling the OS fixed it. Note this was with an NVIDIA card and the blue screen always showed the actual file causing the problem near the bottom of the blue screen. You might try installing HMonitor or the like to check hardware temperatures.

That sounds like someone reading from a script to a newbee.

When the offending software (nero 12.5 ) was removed and the old nero software 8 put back on...no more problems..."If thy right eye offends thee then pluck it out"
    12.5 was ruthlessly plucked out...
A work around is a dead issue for me...
    not worth my time....
you all answer and reply like it means something to me......
It all sounds like robot rule quoting lock step marching non human speak to me...

    I contacted customer service...
Quote after quote of company policy....
the gods of cost benefit ratio would have been better served if the refund had just come...The time Nero staff spent reading and responding puts them in the negative column on profit for my small purchase.
The bad reviews posted on facebook, Newegg, Amazon, Cnet has cost nero more than the refund....in lost sales

Short sited myopic failure on Neros part...

Nero must place a little to no value on their peoples time....
I do not wish to do the "work around"
I pray for you poor lost souls living under the crushing hand of corp. policy.
Some peoples jobs seem to be just to keep their jobs and not do their jobs...

One difference is, that Nero 8 does not use multiple cores.

So, when you recode a video with nero 8, only one core of your 6 core cpu is used - so there is no danger of overheating.

But, nero 12 uses all 6 cores. As wither explained, this can cause an overheating, if your system is not build correctly, vents are blocked or so on.

But of cause, this is only a theoretical explanation - to really answer it, we need to know what exactly the bluescreen says, if hardware acceleration was enabled and so on.

but for me, it sounds you are not interested in getting a solution - so I will stop to write here.

    • As written: This was only one idea. Give me the EXACT wording of the bluescreen (or better: the complete dump that was created) and information if you have hardware-acceleration enabled, what format the input-files has, setting you made in recode and so on then we would be able to analyze the problem and help you - but without exact information, it is just to make a guess..

So again: Do you want help with your problem? Then we can continue here.
      If not, we should stop
    • Knock...Knock...is anyone home...Cost benefit ratio has exceeded the allotted time allocated. Dont want a work around...dont want the software...much to much trouble and it is not a puzzle worth solving for me. No benefit....and Customers service having such an intractable stance has resulted in my expressing my frustration by giving reviews of Neros products on any forum and product site I can find....
If they had just read my mails....none of this would have gone on.
Is my 39.99 so important to them that they would spend 4 or 5 times that amount defending their position....
      Short sited and myopic

I'm not sure who's being short sited and myopic. You have gotten a blue screen that identifies the problem, which occurs during encoding, is system related. I merely tried to provide possible causes. We never know how competent people are with computers so we try to explain it as basically we can. As Jens said, a blue screen dump would likely give the details of the problem.

I'll stay out of the thread from now on.
