Is there a disk leakage problem with Nero 14?

I am running Nero 14 Platinum on a Windows 7 system. I have created two DVDs of about 4Gb (inputting a 4Gb WMV file) and each time, after the creation, the disk space has decreased by 4Gb and never returned. The folder for Temporary Files, Saved Picture Files and Imported Video Files do not contain any files. I have also changed folder settings to show hidden files and can't find any of the lost space. On the first occasion I used C drive for the Temporary files and on the second occasion the D drive. Is there a disk leakage problem or am I missing something?

  • I haven't heard about such a problem

    Some ideas:
    a) Have you enabled the background-rendering?
    b) On what drive do you lost the space?
    c) Have you also looked at:
    c:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\Nero\Nero 2014\
    and
    C:\Users\\Documents\NeroVideo
    ?

  • Thanks for the reply Jens.

    a) No, I haven't enabled Background Rendering.

    b) I have lost space on the C drive when I had the Temporary files setting assigned to a folder on the C drive and ALSO on the D drive on my next attempt after I had changed the Temporary Files setting to point to a folder on the D drive.

    c) No space used in the C:\Users\\Documents\NeroVideo

    I do not have a C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\Nero\Nero 2014\ but I do have a C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\Nero\Nero 2015 folder

This contains a NeroVision subfolder with a Cache subfolder under that. The Cache folder contains 136 files (with 311 Kb used out of 5643 Kb on disk) and one subfolder with nothing in it. The attributes of all folders have been set to Show Hidden files.

    Regards,
    Peter

  • The 2015 folder is the correct one unless you have used something like Recode which will have a folder under 2014.

It could be the temporary files are in the C:\Windows\Temp or C:\Users\"user name"\AppData\Local\Temp.

One way to check this is to run the Windows Disk Cleanup utility and reboot each time you create a project. Make sure to check "empty recycle bin" as well as Temporary files.
