Make possible sorting folders with photo's in Media Home as ordered at the source (the hard disk e.g.)

It would help a lot when in Media Home photo's can also be ordered by the way the are stored at the hard disk. So if there are folders on the hard disk in folders (as if they were albums) that would also be visible in Medio Home. (That should not be too hard since that resembles the way Microsoft Explorer shows the information). The way an owner has sorted photo's on his or her's hard disk often is the most efficient way to present and to find photo's, as I see that.

  • Hello-

How were you able to sort the files in Windows Explorer and override the default Windows settings? Normally, that would require a renaming of the files. You can sort in NMH by the date, name and type. I'm using v2015 at the moment and I think the options changed in later versions. I'd have to boot my other system to check that.

  • Hello Wither 1
I'm not overriding the default Windows settings. At my hard disk I have sorted all my photo's in folders (and all the individual photo files are renamed -with Advanced Renamer-, as a standard using the date and time stamp (yyyymmdd_hhmmss) the photo's were taken. The name of the folders mostly also starts with a date stamp and function as an album name.
In Expolorer I see the tree of the folders (i.e. albums) as I sorted them at my harddisk. When I want to have a look at photo's I mostly find them best by searching the album they're in.
And when I want to edit them (as is also possible iun NMH, for me it works best when I can also assess photo's that are directly related (and are therefore in the same album/folder).
Everybody has his/her own preference of ordering photo's and mostly that's how the photo's and the folders they're in are ordered at the hard disk. So by giving the opportunity to view the photo's within NHM the same way as they are ordered at the hard disk then that would fit in best with the way of 'working' of the users of NHM.

  • Doesn't the "date" sort in NMH show them correctly?

  • No Wither 1, it doesn't always. You seem to miss my point. I've got my own way to make albums and want to be able to show photo's and edit them the way I order my (photo's in my) albums.
That's why I suggested to ADD another way (and that way is very common too; look at the way explorer programms work).
Besides: some of the photo's (like I extracted from the internet) only present the date they were gathered from the internet. And that seldom is the date I want to combine that photo with.

  • Ok. So it does work sometimes. You can change the date and time for a photo in NMH, but I don't know if that does what you want.

No one from Nero, who will see your idea, will be in here for probably several weeks. You can always go directly to tech support.
