MediaHome does not recognize AVCHD-DVD for playback

MediaHome 2017 reads the disc - and then puts a message that no blue-ray player in system?

Disc plays fine in MediaPlayer in W7 and MPC-HC player as well as Xbox One blueray player.

Not a biggy, but think it should be fixed. Not relevant behavior to first read a disc and then disqualify it instead of playing it.

Disc burned by Nero Video 2017. And M2TS file itself play fine.

  • There is no blu-ray player for discs in v2017 and an AVCHD-DVD requires a blu-ray player.

If you have an AVCHD, BDMV or BDAV folder on your hard drive, then Nero MediaHome will play it.

  • Thanks.
That would be by choice then.

As I mentioned MPC-HC plays it fine.

Nero Video just burned the disc on the same drive, why would apps not read it?

Regular standalone DVD players does not play it, but that is not MediaHome either being a computer software.

I just find it odd you cannot check that the disc is alright by reading in MediaHome, but can use other players in the same system that do.

What I had issues with was faulty DVD RW discs that were worn out it seems, after some testing and other discs worked as I figured out. A pity I cannot use anything shipped with Nero for that.

Clicking on DVD drive in MediaHome, it reads the disc as sees a BDMV folder and refuse to continue reading it and puts a message - no BD drive in system.

Another thing that would be cool, would be if burner in Nero Video has a verify - so you know if disc writing actually went ok. But maybe I missed a setting somewhere.

  • As I mentioned above, there is no blu-ray player for "discs". An AVCHD-DVD has to be played in a blu-ray player. In addition, AVCHD or BD folders have to be on your hard drive for you to play them in Nero MediaHome.

The way to make sure that what you want to burn will be okay (barring burn problems), is to burn your project to your hard drive. Then drag and drop the resulting AVCHD_TN folder unto Nero MediaHome or other player that plays blu-ray.

    • What I was after was to ensure verification on the very disc where video is burned. I had a couple of bad discs, which I had to use non-Nero software to verify.

You don't need a bluray player to play a DVD disc good enough to ensure all written is ok - as I mentioned above. Since MPC-HC fix it, it is obvious a bluray player is not needed. And since you just burned the AVCHD-DVD disc from software it's obvious that same drive can be used to also read the disc.
    • I understand what you want and was simply commenting on the capabilities of Nero Video. There is no verification option for a video type disc in Nero so, the only thing I could say is to contact tech support and request that feature.
