Music and Audio in Nero Video

Ola!
How can I mute the music in order to listen to the original recorded audio? And then to resume with music?
PS I have Nero Platinum 2019
Thanks!

  • Hi, in Nero Video advanced editing click
    1) to expand the audio tracks to show their wave form
    2) for each track you want to manipulate enable "Use keyframes" in the effect palette
Afterwards you can click and drag keyframe points on the volume curve.

  • Thanks for answering my questions.
I followed your instructions but, when opening the project in advanced mode, a visualization appeared as in the figure. I would like to know how to expand it because so I can't understand how to intervene or where to intervene.
    How should I proceed?
    Thanks bye

  • I added some colored circles. You can drag the volume curve up and down and via the points you can adjust it over time. I circled points of higher volume in green and lower in yellow. In my example "Audio 2" will fade lower till 2 sec while Audio 1 will fade higher. Between 4 and 6 seconds it will just be the opposite.

Click on the center line of the audio track at the point where you want to start adjusting the volume. That will create the first marker. Note that if you want to start adjusting from the very beginning of the audio track, you don't have to make a marker at the start. Procede as below.

Click on the center line of the audio where you want the first adjustment. Click and hold on that marker and drag it up or down, as desired.

After you do that, there will be a white line to the right of that marker. Click on that line where you want to adjust the volume. Move the marker as desired.

    Continue until finished.

Note that it will likely be easier if you zoom the timeline by moving the slider on the bottom of the screen to the right.

Are you wanting to mute the entire music track?

    • I don't think you can selectively change the volume of either the spoken audio or music unless they are separate tracks. To remove the spoken part, I think you would need to export the audio to file and then apply the karaoke effect in WaveEditor and then save that to file. You would then import that into Nero Video and replace the audio track where you want the new file and insert the new file. I don't know if there's an option for removing music. I'll have to think on it.
    • I think I might have a way of removing the music but probably won't get to it until tomorrow.

  • I'm sorry but I can't do it!
If I click on the center line with a click or two, I get the results in the figures and no marker appears! Is there anything to unlock?

  • I found a method at Techwalla for removing music from a track using Audacity. However, I don't know which version he's using since the nomenclature he uses is different that what I can find in the latest version. I tried messing with it but it didn't work. I also tried using SoundTrax in conjunction with WaveEditor controls to do the same thing but was unsuccessful. Another method is presented which hinges on there being a center channel but the audio file I have doesn't have a center channel. I may fool around with it again later.

  • Ola!
I will try your suggestions on Saturday or Sunday.
    I haven't had time.
Thanks a lot for the information, I will let you know a soon as possible

    Thanks!
    • I pursued the music removal issue some more. I have an old version of Audacity that came with a turntable I purchased some 5 or 6 years ago. Like the latest version, it also doesn't have the effects that the person at Techwalla is referring to. Doesn't matter because I realized that the one effect he mentions also refers to a center channel which my audio doesn't have.

  • Ok guys, after a lot of study I managed to find the system thanks to those of you who suggested the "keyframes" that I didn't understand how to use ... now I have tried and tried and I can do what I wanted.
It is a bit complicated for the fast and difficult view, but I am succeeding.
I'd like to ask another question: to collimate the music, at the end of one song immediately start the other, is there an automatic system? I cut the audio and put it below and it seems as a magnet, they stick together but they are not very precise in the beginning and end.

Thanks a lot to everyone for the help! Fantastic !!!

  • I'm not exactly sure what you want to do so bear with me.

When you cut media from the timeline and remove it, the end that's left and the start of the next piece of media will not automatically join.

Use the scissors to demarcate the part of the audio you want to remove. Click on the selection tool (white arrow on right). Right click on the part you demarcated and select "remove from track and close gap." That's assuming you have the audio unlinked from the video. Of course, doing so would put the audio out of sync with the video.

Zooming the timeline should greatly help you determine where to make the cuts.

    Does that help?
