I’m frustrated

Naming a title

I am using Nero 16. I have authored a DVD with different video clips. I then renamed each clip with a name of the clip. and Burnt the DVD. When I insert the video into the DVD player and hit play it shows the name of the clip, and I can choose the clip I want to play and it plays that clip. When I then hit stop it goes to a screen that shows the following

Video
Title 1
-/-- -:--

Title 2
-/-- -:--

and so on.

How to I get it to show each title with the name of the clip.
Please help.

  • Hi Geoffrey

    I assume you selected DVD-Video.

I also assume you're changing the name of a menu button. Is that the case?

If so, which template are you using?

Are you making any other changes to the menu?

Would you post a screenshot of the menu and the screen when you stop the video.

The problem should show up when you're previewing the project after you leave the Menu Editing screen.

  • I selected DVD Video.
I changed the name to the name of each video clip.
    Templates
    Titles menus only
    Category
    Smart 3D
    Gift Box
I have attached the following screen shots
Screenshot of Preview This is from preview before burning the DVD
TV screen when DVD is in DVD player and I press Play. Taken from my Cell Phone.
TV screen when I press stop.

I want to author a DVD where I can see the name of each title when. I press stop
On DVD player, so that I know which title by name to select.

    Thank You.

  • Do you see the last screenshot when you play and stop in the preview screen? Not sure that what your showing me is after that action.

There appears to be an overlay problem. The blue is the same thing as the original template but separated from it.

Would you burn your project again but, this time, burn it to your hard drive? Specify a folder which doesn't have any Video_ts folders in it. When done, it will create a Video_TS folder. Open Nero MediaHome and select Video. Drag and drop the Video_TS folder unto Nero MediaHome and play it. Do you get the same problem when you stop it?

  • I’m sad
Before I press PLAY and after I press Stop on the preview screen I see
Screenshot of Preview (This is from preview screen before burning the DVD), I DO NOT see the blue screen shot in the preview screen, only on the TV screen after I press Stop on the DVD player.

I burnt the project onto my hard drive and played it on Nero media home it plays OK When I press stop it goes back to the preview screen NOT to the Blue screen.

  • I assume your TV has an app for playing video. Copy the Video_TS folder to a USB stick and then attach the stick to the TV. Can you play the folder and does it give you the same problem. I'm on a limb here since I don't remember how to do that on my TV and don't have time this morning to look at it.

The other option would be to stream the video to your TV using Nero MediaHome.

I don't know why you're TV is rendering the menu that way just because it stops. I don't think that looking at the burn logs would identify a cause, if it is a burn issue.

I don't know if tech support will entertain the problem since you have v2016 but you can go here-

    https://nerosupport.freshdesk.com/en/...

and submit a New Support Ticket. If you do, let me know the results.

  • I COPIED THE Video_ts folder to a USB stick and attached it to the USB port of the TV. But when I tried playing it, I get an error message NO video files at this location.
I am going to try submitting a support ticket to tech support.

  • Would you open the Video_TS folder and then copy all the files to your stick? It should see the streams but I don't know if the TV is smart enough to open the file that contains the menu information. I was going to try it on my TV this afternoon but my girl has control of the TV right now.

For information, what is the resolution of your TV set to?

Let me know what tech support has to say. If they won't entertain your request because of your version number, I'll try the direct route but there's no guarantee. You would likely get the same result regardless of which version you use.

  • Yes I opened the Video_TS folder and copied all the files to a USB stick and inserted the stick into the USB port of the TV which detected the stick but gave me the error message, no video files at this location. The TV is able to play MP4 files from the stick. I have put a ticket in to Tech. Support. Will let you know what they say.

  • I'm surprised it couldn't open the .vob files. Almost any player can open those.

Looking forward to hearing back from you.

  • I just burned a DVD with another burning software( Any video converter). The DVD works fine .But on pressing stop on the dvd player it goes to the screen Title 1, Title 2 and so on , with no Names of each clip, just like the blue screenshot on my earlier post.
So I guess it is either my TV or the DVD burner.
    Any suggestions??

  • Does it show both the regular menu and the extra menu layer as shown in your screenshot? If it does, I'd guess it has something to do with your player. Either that or the lag on your TV is high.

When this happens, can you select a button from the menu?

If you don't mind burning another disc, reproduce your project but, in the Content screen, open Recording Format Options. In the Sample Format, select Progressive. Continue to create your project and burn. Do you still have the same problem?

I have just ordered more DVD blanks. Will try what you suggest and let you know.
