Need Help on Capturing YouTube Video
I just bought Nero 2014 Platinum and it said that I could Capture Youtube Video, But I can't find what to use to do this. I checked everyone of the products that came with Nero 2104 Platinum, but I can't find anything close to capturing Youtube video. I also downloaded the add ons that were free. Please help on what program to use and how to do it. Thanks! Mark

Hi Mark, I don't have the update to Nero 2014, but in Nero 12 Platinum it used to be part of Nero Recode. (It didn't work all that well in Nero 12 Platinum by the way) seemed to capture the advertisements but mess up on the video itself :(
Maybe Nero 2014 has made some improvements?
In Recode, look for the link that says: "Import Online Video"
If you find that, you need to stream the YouTube video in your browser, with the Recode Capture Online Video running in the background. Once the entire video has finished streaming, you are supposed to be able to capture it via the recode software. I didn't have much success with this with the Nero 12 version.
Good luck. -

You don't need to have the Import Online Video running in the background. Just play the movie in YouTube. The link will be in the brower history. Then run Import Online Video. This didn't work in v12 and it's erratic in v14.

Hi Mark, you are not the only one with problems with Nero Recode. It simply doesn't work at all. I tried with 3 browsers, Firefox, Chrome and Internet Explorer. By clicking on Import Online Video, the window that shows up is always empty or have less than 1 minute video to download. It is not only with Youtube videos. It doesn't wotk with other sites too. I use Real Player. It is free and always works.

This issue has been raised repeatedly since Nero 12 was released. I reported that it didn't work using Nero 12 on Windows XP and was basically told that Windows XP would not be supported by Microsoft after April, 2013 (should have been 2014). I moved my Nero 12 to Windows 8 and it seemed to work there. But then, perhaps after an update, it started behaving erratically just as it had on Windows XP.
I have added [comments like this] in the following quote to show that the importing of online video didn't work in any real sense from the beginning, IMHO. It is totally unreliable in performing a task that a multitude of free apps will do flawlessly. I have totally given up on using Recode for the task and rely on a Windows 8 free app and a similar one for the Kindle Fire.
In spite of all of this, Nero is highlighting the capability on their advertisement pages?????
Here's some help from the previous forum:
"Like Armand said, you can import and convert youtube-videos with Nero Recode 12. Just click on the "Import online video" text and a list with already watched videos will be shown. The best way to achieve this is to watch the video with the internet explorer instead of firefox because of a higher recognition rate [higher rate, but not 100%]. Go to youtube and search for your video. To achieve the best video quality, choose the highest resolution possible in youtube. Sometimes the video will be recognized in Nero while playing the video [here we go!], sometimes you'll have to wait until the video has ended [???]. In some cases you'll have to close the browser for the videos to be recognized in Nero Recode.[ It's really unbelieveable.] " from here.
There is more help [?] in this image from Recode:

I've tried all 3 browsers too, IE; Chrome and Firefox. None of them work properly in NERO 12 Platinum Recode capturing YouTube videos.

Maybe is a silly question but did you try Youtube Downloader and convert the file format using Nero?

Thanks for that suggestion Camelia. I downloaded Free YouTube downloader from Cnet - There is a lot of adware to deselect during the installer process, but once you get through all that, the YouTube downloader works perfectly!
Thanks very much for the tip. :) -

It's my pleasure, mate! You may help me back with tips for downloading Nero, as I continuously get error message saying: the system was not updated at this stsge; try again)

I use keepvid.com, just paste the link into a textbox and you have the option of downloading the video in several different format. there's also a snipmp3.com too, but it's horribly slow; better to just download the video and use Nero to extract the audio you want... which kinda makes me wonder why I'm even suggesting snipmp3.com in the first place.. huh. where's that backspace key.. hmmmm...

hahaha! I love your suggestion! I shall take you home to make me laugh all day long :-)

Hey all,
since it's also problematic in Nero 2014 to import online videos into Nero Recode, I still use a workaround.
I'm using the VideoDownloadHelper Addon in Firefox, which lets me decide which resolution of the online video i want to download. It's normally saved in MP4 then. If I need another format or resolution im importing the downloaded file without problems into Nero Recode.
As long as the import funktion is a bit faulty, I will do it that way. -

In my opinion, Nero is technically superior to similar products on DVD burning and video converting. While as for video capture, you can try other kinds of downloaders to meet your needs.
Some online downloading sites are popular: keepvid, offliberty, clip converter and more.
Or, this's a freeware that can download YouTube handily: http://www.videoconverterfactory.com/...
Also, there are some browser add-ons can download YouTube, for example: http://addoncrop.com/youtube_video_do...
Have a check there. -

It is easier that you think to record your beloved YouTube videos. To do that, I usually utilize Windows screen recording tool. It can record any streaming movie, online music, Skype calls, gameplay, etc. in flexible way.

There is the "Save from Net" option where you type in the letters "ss" just after the www. and before the youtube.
For example:
This video ...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t8dQw...
Type in "ss" on the url like this:
https://www.ssyoutube.com/watch?v=t8d...
then hit enter.
With some luck, it takes you to the
Save from net website.
To avoid the paid for option... just select the "download video in browser" link.
Then click on "download"
On my system, it then displays the video and starts to play it.
(Just cancel the pop-up for Ummy if that appears.)
From that video displaying, I right-click on the video and "Save Video As..." out to a file. -

Tuneskit Audio Capture may be a good choice for you. It is an excellent YouTube downloader that can extract audio from YouTube and convert audio from YouTube to plain formats like MP3, AAC, WAV, FLAC, M4A, and M4B.
