I have successfully used Nero 10 for many years. Very recently something odd has happened.
When I click on the Nero 10 icon to open it, the word NERO and a waving line shows but then I do not see the normal opening page that allows one to select what to do.
If I again click on the Nero 10 icon - a panel opens that states the Nero 10 is already running. All I can do is click OK or close this panel.
What has gone wrong please?
Regards to all - Dr. Stephen Ankier.

Hello-
Assuming you have a 64 bit system, please go here-
C:\Program Files (x86)\Nero\Nero 10\Nero StartSmart
Find and run the NeroStartSmart.exe file.
Does that work? -

The problem resolved after a routine Dell update that involved the PC closing down and restarting. Strange but optimal result.
How would you compare the merits of Nero 10 with Nero 2017 Platinum? -
-
I'll tell you the differences I remember offhand in the two versions.
Things in v10 that aren't in v2018 include the ability to add subtitles to video, the Nero Blu-ray Player, the ability to work with HD audio, and a full functioned Backitup. Most of these require the Nero Multimedia Suite 10 (equivalent to Platinum in subsequent versions).
V2018 Platinum has a lot more templates, effects ,etc., multi-colored sidebars (vice only black), HVEC/4K support, and multi-video export in Nero Video. Most of the other apps aren't significantly different. There are things in v10 Recode which are still available in v2018 but they're done differently. -

Hello all, Using my Nero Vision 10 I can download clips and edit with the picture squarely in the middle of the available frame. When I want to cut a DVD and run the system all proceeds to a good DVD BUT while the frames are running fast through the cut to disc frame the picture is off on one side so I only see a small part of it whizzing past. How do I correct that please? Stephen.

Hello- I retired from the forum but received your question via an e-mail notification. Someone else may go into more detail regarding the problem but, as I understand it, you are cutting a clip (I don't know what cutting a DVD means). When you made your cut, did you zoom the timeline using the slider at the bottom of the page to make sure you made the cut between frames? It might help to add a screen shot which shows the operation you're doing.

Hi., Appreciate you answering Wither. Cutting a clip means that when I finished my editing then when I want to make a DVD the edited clips need to be burned onto a DVD. The start of that process shows the word NERO in large and then my edited clips rush by as the burning process begins. When the burning is in progress the actual clips I see rushing past as normal BUT they are not in the centre of the viewing frame and I only see part of the clip. Fortunately when the burn process is completed the result is fine. So somehow I have moved the picture out of the burning frame (all else is normal). How do I normalise please?

What's in the display when the video is being encoded isn't representative of the output, as you have found. I ignore it. Most of the time I do something else on my computer or walk away until it's finished. I don't know how to change it. Maybe someone else will have an idea.

Thank you Withers. As always much appreciated. It never used to be like that and perhaps I mistakenly and without realising changed a setting. Any ideas from the community please.

It's been that way as long as I can remember (back to v8). If it displayed the project so you could see it as it's going to be, it would take a lot longer to encode it. I can imagine that, on a very fast system, it might be a blur.

Thanks. Before this change occurred the picture moved forward as in your demonstration. Now when I proceed half the picture is OUTSIDE that central frame and I must have altered a setting or dragged something somehow. It's better to see the burn process going through as a check and that's where I'm in trouble.

The problem is with the 'Display a preview' moving visual that has shifted somehow from the middle of the viewing area to one side such that only part of the video can be seen as the DVD is being encoded and processed.

Stephen,
Perhaps someone would have an idea if you were to post a screenshot of the problem? -
