nero 12 essentials software is crap!!!!!!!
I just received a pioneer blu-ray player with a Nero 12 essentials software disc. The software does not work. I did an update check and updated the software. I put a blu ray disc in and it said that I had to get a lot of other software. Then it gave me an error saying a critical error has occurred. Then it I clicked on a button or link and it took me to the nero web site wanting me to buy more software. I bought the drive with the software, which is supposed to work!

Essentials versions are free and their capabilities are determined by the OEM. It is highly unlikely they would pay to include the Nero Blu-ray player. That is only available in purchased Platinum versions of Nero v11 through V15 Platinum or via a $30 plug-in for Nero MediaHome. I can't remember for sure but you also might have to buy another plug-in in order to use the blu-ray player.

well since the arrow says I don't have a problem and my win 8.1 system say that your software has a critical error when I try to play a blu-ray disc then I see the problem is with nero and I will never buy any nero product ever!!!!!!!

Hi Mark-
It's a critical error because you don't have the Nero blu-ray player, just as the original message you posted said. Essentials versions are very limited in what they can do.
I have no idea what arrow you're referring to. -

The arrow in the upper right hand corner of what?
If you go to this path for a 64 bit system-
C:\Program Files (x86)\Nero
or this path for a 32 bit system-
C:\Program Files\Nero
is there a Nero Blu-ray player folder? -

Wither - Yes there is a folder. Very much IS a problem. Why the hell would the software come with a prgram 'blu ray player' that does not work on a blu-ray I just burned with nero essential 12? This software is indeed crap!

The blu-ray player is part of Nero MediaHome. It is installed but isn't usable without a purchased serial number. Nero has to pay a fee to the patent holders for blu-ray, mpeg-4 and AVCHD for each Nero user who wants to use them. That fee is paid out of the purchase price of a Nero Product.
What kind of blu-ray disc did you burn? In other words, which Nero app did you use and what did you select? It's likely a data disc. -
