Nero 17 Premium

I have tried your program Neo 17 Premium for a time, and I like it, and I want an update to my program. How can I pay for it. I'm Danish, and it is the language I best understand, it would be a great help if you did make some video clips, which showed the features of the video output. I wish more will be more Tema and Nero PiP

  • I installed Nero 2017 Platinum and when I loaded a video into Nero Video editing it was fine. When I tried to export the file it stopped dead and did nothing. I went back to my editing screen and clicked NEXT instead of Export. When I tried to export the file I got the Export screen with all of the fields blank and again there it froze.Contacted support who claimed it was because I had Nero 2014 installed as well - so, the blurb says I can have older versions installed as well To satisfy them I uninstalled my 2014 and 2017 and cleaned the iot all out of my system and then having received 2018 Platinum installed that. Well it did exactly the same thing as 2017... it didn't work. Support suggested it was my Windows 10 not updated - it was fully uptodate. Then it was my drivers - well they are all up to date. Then it must be corrupt Windows files - nope ran the checker through and nothing corrupt or missing. That was the end of the support. Nero don't know why their software doesn't work so they just ended the support. Great customer service I don't think. All along my old Nero 2014 has worked perfectly from XP to Windows 7 to Windows 10 with a change of motherboard and video card as well; Never missed a beat. Nero 2017 and 18 - crap! I kept telling them they have done something to the program because 2014 works perfectly but 17 and 18 won't. I maintained it is now incompatible with AMD systems as it works fine on a Celeron under Windows 7 and on an i5 under windows 10. Then they tried telling me that AMD and Intel chops are exactly the same just different brands of the same chip. Come again? So a Porsche 911 is the same car as a Jaguar just a different brand. What a load of crap - shows these guys don't know what they are talking about as Intel Chips are NOT the same as AMD - each company has their own instruction set in their chips. The guys at Nero Support need to learn and get their facts straight before they start sprouting garbage like that. I won't buy another version of Nero, I'll stick with my trusty 2014 and if it ever dies I buy something else.

As a last attempt to prove that it was because Nero would not work on an AMD computer I tested 2017 on another and 2018 on another to see if it was a general problem or specific to AMD as both the other computers are Intel and didn't have Nero installed on them previously because they are not used for video editing - too slow.I still have the NOT WORKING 2018 installed on here along with my fully functional 2014. I left 2018 on to see if Nero's Support could ever figure out a way to make it work. As I said to them - "Of what use is a 30 day trial of software that doesn't even work?" IF they ever got it to work I intended to try it and see if it is any better than 2014. It seems not. It may do a few things 2014 doesn't but they are not things I need anyway.

  • Two things-

    The trial versions are limited to working with 30 seconds of video and/or 100 MB of data. That could be the issue here.

    Second, if you install a particular version using the same serial number on two different computers, it will only fully work on the first computer because you won't be able to activate the third party patents on the second computer.

    The problem was it didn't work the 1st time either 2017 or 2018 was installed and Nero support kept telling me to uninstall and reinstall and register it over and over again. They simply wouldn't accept that the program does not work on AMD computers - end of story. So after about 5 or 6 attempts to get it to work on this computer, after doing everything that Nero Support said to do without success, I then tried it - Full Paid Version, NOT a trial - on a different system with an Intel processor and it worked perfectly. I told Nero Support of this but they still insisted it would work on AMD when I had already proven it wouldn't. next email I get they accuse me of buying a possibly stolen licence on EBay and then after requesting my proof of purchase (which I sent them) they wouldn't talk to me. So much for Support.

    The issue was NOT how long (like 30 seconds) the video I could export, it was that the program simply did not work, full stop. As I said - when I tried to export a video, the EXPORT page had absolutely nothing in any of the fields such as file type to export as, file location, but rate etc. and this was the very first time I installed it, not the 4th or 5th time, although the result was the same EVERY time. Absolutely nothing would make it work - every suggestion by Nero Support was a dismal failure despite doing as they said and fully uninstall it and delete all the files and restart my computer and do a clean install. After every new install as it continued to not work I sent them a new Support.cab file for analysis. The finally admitted they have no idea why it doesn't work but refused to accept it simply won't work on AMD computers. Nero 2014 no problem. Nero 2017 and 2018 won't work on AMD but do work on Intel which I don't use. Here is a screenshot showing what I got when I could even get as far as this screen which 90% of the time it would not progress beyond the orange screen asking what I wanted to do.

      One thing to try ...

      It might be a case of the "cache" folders becoming corrupt. You can delete the Nero Video "Cache" folders, and they will be re-initiated when Nero Video starts up again.

      Where to do the deleting:

      Substitute your windows username for "YOUR USER NAME" below ...

      For Nero 2017 :

      (1)
      Delete the folder "Nero Vision" at
      C:\users\YOUR USER NAME\AppData\Local\Nero\Nero 2017

      (2)
      Delete the folder "SharedMediaData" at
      C:\users\YOUR USER NAME\AppData\Local\Nero

  • Alas, I did all that and still it does not work - I still get the screen with all the fields blank. I have resigned myself to sticking with Nero 2014 until such time as (if) I decide to upgrade to maybe an Intel i7 or i8.

  • In my 9+ years in the forum, people have been using all Nero versions on AMD systems without any more issues than on an Intel system.. The most significant problem that has come up was, a few years ago, when people were using legacy AMD and NVIDIA graphics cards and were unable to use hardware acceleration in Recode.

    Which graphics card do you have?
    • The other issue is that you have the software installed on your other Intel systems. I don't know how they're working if you never uninstalled them from the AMD system. You can tell me if you did that. If you did, then they won't work when you reinstall them on your AMD system (without uninstalling from the Intel system) unless you use video formats other than mpeg-4, .mts and .m2ts such as .wmv. Also, they may be treated as trial installations and the limitation on file size will apply.

    I have also come to think that with other posts about problems with graphics cards, that it could have something to do with this M/B but then why does Nero 2014 and earlier versions work perfectly? If anything wasn't going to work I would expect it to be older versions. I notice though that people have been complaining of problems of Nero not working since 2015 came out. I have never had a problem until now with the latest versions. As I never owned or trued 2015 or 2016 I don't know whether they would have had issues with my computer.

    Hardware acceleration is not even available on the old intel computer on which it works perfectly If the graphics did not display I could understand that it is something to do with graphics card but all graphics display fine, it is simply as you saw that the fields are all blank. That to me is a software issue not a hardware issue.

    I understand what you are saying about installing Nero on multiple computers. That was done as a TEST only AFTER attempting to get it to run on my main computer about 5 or 6 times of install, uninstall, install, uninstall at the instruction of Nero Support. It NEVER worked on this computer but as I say my OLD NERO 2014 worked and still works perfectly. When I TESTED Nero 2017 and 2018 on two different computers with Windows 7 and Windows 10, BOTH worked perfectly. I told support this but they continued to insist that it was not a software problem with Nero 2017 orr Nero 2018 yet neither will work on my AMD. I uninstalled 2017 and 2018 off the other computers after I proved they will work on an Intel but not on my AMD. That was when Support ended, because they have no idea what the problem is so they just chose to ignore me then suggest I had bought a pirated licence on ebay or some such thing when they had the details of my purchase from NERO.
    Not having a go at you, I appreciate you trying to figure this out but as for Nero Support, they are useless. When they don't know the answer they just ignore you.

  • The Radeon 3000 is a legacy graphics card which is no longer supported. When we were having problems with Recode and legacy cards (both NVIDIA and Radeon), Radeon issued a final driver for those cards. This is the one-

    Maybe I should just give up on AMD devices, it seems to have problems with lots of software. I have a video capture card that also won't behave on the AMD - it works OK but it keeps opening all by itself for no reason even when I deactivate it. So I stuck it in a different computer running Intel and it behaves itself there.

    If you are not bald already, this is sure to make you tear your hair out or send you insane. :-)

  • There's a specific procedure for uninstalling the old driver and installing the Crimson driver. I don't know if it's in that link I gave you.

  • If I remember correctly, the Recode problem started with v2015. Nero and other software companies got NVIDIA to change the drivers for the 600 and up series of graphics cards. I have a 560TI and I use an old driver to be able to use hardware acceleration. Around that time, AMD declared certain cards to be legacy but released that Crimson driver.

    If I remember correctly, one has to uninstall Catalyst and the driver before one can install that Crimson driver.

    I don't understand your comment about the graphics card. The 3000 is a discrete graphics card. There would be no harm to install the other graphics card. I think you would have to remove the 3000 but I don't know for sure.

  • No, my graphics card chip is ON the M/B not separate. Just a thought, since Nero (and others) knew of this issue for years why didn't Nero support tell me this right from the start when I sent them the very first Support.cab file which would have told them all the information I have given you (and more), instead of telling me my windows had to be updated and then my windows is corrupt. Would have saved a lot of time and angst., At least you have been able to establish what the real cause of the problem is, and as I said to Nero Support, it is definitely a software incompatibility issue with my AMD system albeit perhaps just this Radeon Graphics chip. I should be able to disable it in the BIOS if I install a separate graphics card.
    Failing all I will just stick with 2014 until I decide to upgrade the whole system with an M.2 SSD and an Intel i7 chip, add some wings and watch it fly around the room :-)

    I had another go at uninstalling existing drivers according to instructions in the links you sent and it said No Drivers Installed... yet it still refuses to install the drivers from the other link. I will have another shot at uninstalling catalyst as well as any video drivers I can find then try installing the other driver and see what happens. I'll let you know.

    From what I can tell there does not seem to be a huge difference in features from 2014 to 2018 other than being able to edit vertical videos from a phone. Yeah maybe there;s a couple of extra formats to save in but I just use mp4 SD or mp4 HD.

  • The problem in Recode was that one couldn't select hardware acceleration after NVIDIA and AMD changed their drivers. I'm only guessing that the change in driver may help. Nero Video primarily uses CPU for encoding but will use the GPU if you have the correct drivers (the Hardware Accleration option will be available in the Export screen).

    I won't go into all the new features going from v14 to v2018. The Blu-ray player was removed, as was the ability to decode HD audio, in v2016 due to a lawsuit brought against Nero by DTS, Inc.

  • Blu-ray doesn't bother me as I don't have a BR player and I don't buy DVD's either, mainly editing my own video so thanks for your help, I will stick with 2014 as it seems to be the most user friendly - at least for my requirements. At least I now know WHY the new versions don't work on my computer.

    Hope you took the Mrs. out for your anniversary. Had my 22nd to #3 at end of June.

    Well.... I looked at the driver - dated 2015. Updated it to the latest one (yet my driver updater has been constantly telling me all drivers are up-to-date). Guess what, yeah, 2018 is working. Now I can finally test drive it.

    I don't anything about your driver updater but, oftentimes, those programs are looking at the Windows driver. Naturally, those drivers would be up to date if Windows is up to date.

    GRRRRRR!!!!! I hate computers!!

    Now neither Nero 2014 or 2018 works. I thought 2018 was working - at least the export file page had all the fields shown. I saved a .vob file as a .mpeg2 no problem (in 2018). When I tried to convert to any other format (in 2018 or 2014) I got no display of the video once conversion started and on every occasion it stopped at 4:03.I tried to fix Nero by reinstalling but I just keep getting a small window with 1158: - no information as to what it is/means. I click OK and the window closes but this is a new one I have not seen before.
    When I checked the actual driver, Windows says No drivers are required or installed, yet it previously updated to a June 2017 driver. I tried uninstalling the Radeon Graphics but that doesn't make any difference.

    I think I will start tearing my hair out. HELP!

    I uninstalled and reinstalled the radeon Graphics. Now it has reverted to the 13 January 2015 driver version 8.970.100.9001 It does not say if it is a Crimson Driver just that it is from AMD and Windows reports it is working properly.

    Here's the info I can get about it if this helps.

    This is the driver it installed last night when I updated it from Device Manager:

    I tried to update the driver again but it won't update - says the best driver is already installed. I suspect the new driver was not the right driver anyway as my display became distorted. I used to have it set at 1650 x 1080 but after the driver update the best I could get was 1280 x 1024. It is now back to what it was before with the 2015 driver but Nero now seems to be totally screwed. Uninstalled it but now it refuses to reinstall - I just get this unexplained 1158 error message.

  • What all this is telling us is that, the graphics driver makes a difference.

    That error message is for the installer. This is what it means-

    "The current process has used all of its system allowance of handles for Window Manager objects."

    I've looked at some Microsoft blogs about it but won't pretend to understand them.

    I think it would help to do a system restore to yesterday or one before yesterday.

    Also, do you have any of the software discs for your mobo?

  • Now I have a Chinaman in the computer - him name Sum Ting Wong. I tried to do a restore and for some reason there was only one restore point from yesterday - should have been half a dozen or more. When I tried to restore it came back at the end and said the restore point info is corrupt - no changes made.

    So............. looks like a re-install over the weekend.

    Fortunately I have all the original disks.

    Handles? I thought they were only on things you pick up and doors or your CB name.

    I would have thought cold starting Windows would reset everything like 'handles' back to 0 or 100 whichever way such things go. I'm flat out working 2morrow so I'll be back in touch after the reinstall of everything on the weekend.
    I think there's a light at the end of this long dark tunnel, I just hope it isn't a train. :-)
