Nero 2015- Copy Function do not work

Nero 2015 function Copy. Notebook Asus N56Vz- W8.1
The Copy do not work properly. It makes copy ONLY to a target DVD-RW. To a target DVD-R or CD-RW or CD-R do not work. The Nero Techinical support suggest to update the drivers of the burner , but the burner is updated and no new drivers are available. I removed and reinstalled Nero 2015 but nothing change. Have had someone the same problem ? Maybe Nero 2015 have some issue with W8.1 ?
Thank if someone have a suggestion.
ps: I am very sorry to say that ,after several email during the last month, NOW the Nero Tech. Support do not replay to may email and it is disappeared.

  • I guess you have a Matshita BD or DVD drive?

This is a definite fault with Nero.

Other software packages can perform the Copy DVD function with the same DVD, same Laptop, same drive without any problems.

The "work-around" is to perform a two stage copy.

    1. Create a .nrg image file copy of the source DVD

    2. Exit Nero Burning Rom and double-click on the .nrg file to complete the burn to a DVD-R or DVD +R disc.

This failure of Nero to work properly with Matshita drives I find to be quite annoying and I am not holding my breath for a fix to be deployed by Nero.

  • Did tech support ask you to update the driver or the firmware? They are two different things although most websites incorrectly interchange them.

If you go to this page-

    http://www.asus.com/Notebooks_Ultrabo...

and download/install BIOS update 217, it might resolve this problem. BIOS update 204 fixed a firmware problem and that should be within the 217 update.

  • Wither, I did the update of BIOS with 217, but absolutely nothing change. The copy fuction do not work. In addition I found a new issue with Nero. Up to now I did the video with option Disc Creation-DVD Video. Today I tried to create DVD with the option Disk Creation- DVD Modifiable to a DVD-RW target. Surprise!!. DO NOT WORK!!!! I have also seen the Lucky Phil comments and it is clear that the isssues is Nero 2015 FULL BUGS !!! You aks to Phil if the issue it has been addressed to the Thec. Support. Yes , but after one motnhs and several emils, now the Tech.Support do not replay !!! They have a guilty conscience !!
Conclusion: I threw away € 70 for a software not fully working and the Support is really very bad.

  • It was a shot in the dark since I can't find any drivers or firmware for your hardware.

    Go here-

    http://support2.microsoft.com/fixit/

    Click on All Problem Areas.

Click on Fix problem with CD or DVD drives. Let it run.

    Try another burn.

  • Fausto,

Have you tried Lucky Phil's suggestion? For example, see How do I use this 2015 Platinum??Totally confused with no obvious instructions I can find to help meto copy a DVD?.

Edit: The link points to Nero Express directions, but the same applies to Nero BurningROM with slight changes.

  • I want to thank all (Lucky Phill, Whiter,Geoff,Omega Tester) for the support
From my experience with Nero 2015 (I found others issue, but I don't want to bore you) and all the comments from the others, my finaly conclusion is that Nero 2015 is a "BUGS" with around an unreliable software. So I will remove from my PC and I look for something else. The last comment Is for the Tech.Support : unbelievable!!
    Thank to everybody.

  • Hi, Thx a lot for the log file. Unfortunately I doesn't help me to buy such a device as the crucial Information about the model number is missing e.g. Matsushita BD-CMB UJ-120. Would it be possible to eject the drive from you laptop and look up the model number on printed on the hardware (e.g. UJ-120)? This would be great. Thx,

  • Hi Lucky Phil,
Thx for all the efforts...very much appreciated. I have now the below drive at hand but I couldn't reproduce the issue at all. I copied DVD+RW to -R, -R to -R and -R to +RW without any issues today. I compared the log files and they are very similar until the problem shows up. So I am running out of ideas now.

  • Since5.5
Tisi was my comment to Lucky Phill:
I try the work-around you suggested. Yes it is possible but I would suggest an additional step before Exit from Nero Burning.
    1. Ok Create a .nrg image file copy of the source DVD.
    2. Copy the .nrg image from the folder where Nero have created the image into a different folder.
    3. Exit Nero Burning Rom and double-click on the .nrg file to complete the burn to a DVD-R or DVD +R disc.
What I found is that when you exit from Nero, the .nrg file created is automatically deleted, so you cannot complete the burn by double-click on the .nrg file.

The original suggestion from Lucky was without my step 2 but in my Asus when I close the Burning Rom the original image.nrg is automatically deleted so I copy it in a different folder. Try both solutions.

  • Dear All, we spend considerable time now to get the hardware configuration in place, however we couldn't. We got our hands on two Asus N56VZ but they had different drives (MATSHITA DVD-RAM UJ8B0 / Slimtype DVD A DS8A8SH). We also tested different other Asus laptops with different drives and we didn't found any combination that showed the issue. So it seems to be the combination of this special laptop, with this special drive and Nero Burning ROM. Therefore we won't proceed with this issue further now.
