Nero 2016 Platinum - Blu-ray Player and manual missing
Downloaded Nero 2016 Platinum. Blu-Ray player and manual are missing but appear to be part of production per support website. When will both be available?
-
I also am very interested in seeing if the Blu-Ray player will be added!

Nero Blu-Ray Player is discontinued and not part of Nero 2016 Platinum anymore. Any version of it bought with Nero 10,11,12,2014,2015 can update to the latest version delivered with Nero 2015 for free and will continue to work in parallel to Nero 2016 Classic/Platinum.

Interesting since Nero 2016 support shows a Blu-ray application with link for manual (does not work)

Hi Douglas, Thx for pointing this out. I asked the responsible to remove it.

Actually one of the main reasons for purchasing Nero 2016 (I have 2015) was to make sure I had a good player for Win 10. I have heard many Win 7 players do not work properly under Win 10. Plus Win 10 no longer comes with a media player.

Almost forgot - I will be needing to do clean install of Win 10. That means reinstalling software. The Nero Blu-Ray was part of Nero 2015. Will I be able to reinstall portions of Nero 2015 (Blu-Ray etc) using the original Nero2015_Platinum-16.0.02900.EXE file. IE now that Nero 2016 is out, can I still install Nero 2015. Only received installer program not the Installation files themselves.

Hi Douglas, in any case you should install Nero 2015 (or the portions you need from it) before you install Nero 2016.

Thanks for the heads on installing 2015 on win 10 before 2016. have both on Win 7 at the moment.

1Hi Douglas, good news: There is also a way to get the Blu-Ray Player if you have already installed Nero 2016 Platinum:
1) Download the latest Nero 2015 Platinum Version here
http://www.nero.com/deu/downloads/pre...
2) Enter your Nero 2015 Platinum serial number at the beginning of the installation process
3) Make sure that you click on "Installation Settings" and block anything besides Nero MediaHome (see pictures for details)
4) Do the install

Thanks for additional response. This info should make the clean Win 10 install much easier. I am surprised a Blu-Ray player is no long provided. One would think that if NERO provides an HD video editor, they would provide a video player to go with it. I suspect other customer are asking the same question. Maybe supply as part of a NERO 2016 update?
Please tell your manager that is type of additional follow up response is appreciated by customers and should be encouraged. -

Why should you have to have Nero 2015 & Nero 2016 to play BluRay Discs, perhaps it would be better to give Nero 2016 customers a licence key that enabled them to use Nero 2015 instead, as all of that appears to work under Windows10.
Even better give a refund on Nero 2016 as it is no longer fit for purpose and has had features removed in-situ despite these features having been paid for.
If you go to the web site it suggests you can download Nero Mediahome 4 which should let you play BluRay discs, surprise it brings up the page asking you to upgrade to Nero 2016 Platinum, what is happening here, customers buy a product and, as part of an upgrade, major chunks are removed, then suggests that to get the features back you upgrade to the very product you are running.
Very disappointed at the downturn in Nero,
I have just tried to create a BluRay disc in Nero 2016 Platinum and it told me that I had to upgrade to Nero 2016 Platinum to include HD sound, this does not make sense at all.
Can someone please help, I have multiple licences for your products and it appears that my last round of "Upgrades" were actually downgrades, can I use the key I have for Nero 2016 to do a clean install of Nero 2015 so that I can get the missing features back.
I look forward to some constructive help here. -

In regards to disc playback, us volunteers have been suggesting the use of the free Leawo blu-ray player.
It appears you installed the last update to v2016. That update disabled processing of high definition audio because of a lawsuit filed against Nero AG by DTS, Inc.
If you have a purchased serial number for v2015, you can install v2015. Your v2016 serial number will not work with v2015. -

Great that volunteers are helping out, but what is the corporate response from Nero, who sold us the product in the first place. Customers have no control over corporate lawsuits and if Nero have breached someone else's copyright, they should not have done that.
Bottom line is that customers have, in good faith, paid for Nero 2016, under false pretences and customers would be far better off with 2015 Platinum or 2014 as they are still working, at the moment. As a result of the lawsuit will they also be subject to in-situ downgrades that render them useless for playing or creating BluRay discs.-
Since5.5 has provided the "corporate" response.
I don't know if the lawsuit has been settled.
For some reason, no changes have been made to versions prior to v2016. In regards to HD audio processing, if one doesn't install the latest update to v2016, it's still available.
Note that you don't need to have v2015 and v2016 together to play back blu-ray discs. The point was that the blu-ray player is available in v2015 Platinum. -

The corporate response requires two licence keys and a mixture of two versions of the product, if you do not have a licence for 2015 you are stuck with nothing.
I tried downloading and installing Leawo BluRay player, it does not work reliably on my installation so is not a working substitute, strange that Nrero is advocating third party software to resolve issues with it's own software.
My point is that if you have a licence for 2016 you cannot play BluRay discs, you also cannot install 2015 and use a 2016 key, so either resolve 2016 or give a key for 2015 so that at least customers can get what they originally paid for.
Nero 2016 is still advertised as having HD video and audio support when it really only supports DVD and standard audio, it is not unreasonable to expect Nero to allow a 2016 licence to be used to install 2015 to get the missing functionality.
Even better, withdraw 2016 as a flawed product and send all 2016 customers a licence key for 2015 then at least they will have what they paid for. -

Hi Prenticeg,
>>>Nero 2016 is still advertised as having HD video and audio support
For Nero 2016 there should be no adverting about Blu-Ray playback capabilities or DTS decoding anywhere. If you could point me to the advertising you a referring to, it would be much appreciated, so it can be fixed. Thx.-
Since5.5,
Is this a joke? Have you looked at the Nero advertisements from a new purchaser's viewpoint? Or, even worse, from an experienced Nero user view. Is the user of previous Nero versions supposed to search for what has been eliminated in new products?
Please interpret this:
And, this:
And, a repeat request: please remove the following reference to a post by me in the "Community Member" sidebar on the forum main page:
The issue of Nero Video/Recode not starting because of Nero's lack of ability to deal with AMD Graphics drivers just keeps coming up. Nero's lack of a fix or clear explanation of viable workarounds simply complicates the user experience.
I recognize that these issues aren't strictly on topic, but I feel they are indicative of Nero's lack of transparency about the obvious decline of their products.
On the subject of transparency, please clarify the reason for the removal of the Blu-ray Player after years of attempts to make it work. Your technical liaison and apologist, Wither 1, blames the Blu-ray organization all the time, but is not able to explain why it is that other vendors have no problem. -
