nero hangs when I click to create new compilation

Been using Nero 9 for a long time, but now when it starts up, I get the New Compilation screen up as normal and no matter what option I select, rather than going to the windows directory to select the files to burn, the application hangs and does nothing. Any ideas?

  • Hi Stephen

Which application in v9 are you using?

What is the version number for Burning Rom?

    What is your operating system?

Can you do a system restore to before the problem occurred?

  • Im using Burning Rom 9.4.44.0 to burn dvds compliant with a DVD standalone player. Im on Win 7 Home Premium SP1, Havent tried a sys restore, not sure if I want to as other software may be affected. It has been hanging intermittently when navigating the directory within Burning Rom for a number of months but usually a reboot sorts it.

  • Well, you're version is up to date and it's Win 7 compliant.

I don't use v9 enough anymore to see if that's happening to me. I just tried it and don't see a problem. (I tried it in DVD-Video, which I presume you are using from your description). This is on Vista. I don't have it installed on my Win 7 system.

Tech support doesn't provide support for the older versions anymore so I'm basically all you have in this forum.

I agree that running a system restore wouldn't be the best thing to do since you've had the problem for several months. I thought it had just started.

You might look at the Windows Event Viewer for more details in regards to what's happening. I'm assuming that Burning Rom has basically crashed. I don't understand why a reboot would fix it since it's just looking on your system for files. Are you using a SSD?

Personally, if it doesn't happen frequently and everything else is working, I would leave it alone. You could try the obvious- uninstall using the Nero General Clean tool (not Control Panel) and reinstall.
