Nero Platinum 2018 recognizing DVD and BluRay drives only as CD drives.
-
Hi Steve-
In what manner is Nero identifying the drives as CD drives? -
-
Thank you for your reply.
1. When in Nero Video, the only "Burn To..." option given is Image Recorder
2. In Nero Burning ROM with any selected DVD/BR drive having a blank writable DVD-R inserted, the Disc Info shows:
Blank
CD Recordable
Capacity: 00:00.0 0MB
Available capacity: 00:00.0 0MB
---The disc is empty---
Interestingly enough, when there is a written DVD-D in the drive, Nero will correctly show the amount of written data up to the full capacity of the DVD.
The same applies to all the drives listed above.
All hardware drivers are up to date. -

Are your drives connected to a hub or are they connected directly to the mobo?

Wow. Connected all optical drives directly to MoBo and problem solved!
Thanks! :) -

I have a similar issue. It recognizes my HL-DT-ST BD-RE BH12LS35 drive but once i hit Burn, it tells me the Disc is not the proper type. I am try to burn Blurays, I have tried 3 different brands and multiple disc from each brand.
Only reason i got the software was to burn home videos to blu-ray.-
Hi Brian- your problem is different. Please start a new thread.

I have same problem seeing my dvd and blu-ray drives as cd only. My problem might be I am connecting through a PCIe sata port instead of the mother board it what I read above is true. I hate to replug because it changes of the drive letter assignments.
I guess I can use Windows Disk manager to reassign the drive names. -

Hi David-
I understand the inconvenience regarding having to rename drives but, if you plug a drive directly into the mobo SATA port, does it work in Nero? -
