win 10, add text effect to a pic and it wont allow me to open edit just sits there

There have been a few other people who have reported this problem in the forum.
I recommend that you send an e-mail to techsupport@nero.com.
Please let us know the resolution. It could help someone else. -

I tried to replicate this issue again as I have when others have posted similar problems. Although I didn't have the difficulty you mentioned, something very strange did occur that I can't even describe at this point. It involved the keys I typed moving the cursor around instead of letters appearing. In my confusion, I dragged a fresh copy of the text effect over the one that was there and the problem disappeared. I haven't been able to replicate that one either.
If you try that and it doesn't work, adding it to your Tech Support email might help.
Also, are you able to repeat it by opening a new project?-
yes have uninstalled completely re-installed. new projects etc same issue

It was just a thought! If you write to techsupport@nero.com, it's best to attach a copy of the NeroSupport.cab file for your system. The file is generated by downloading and running the Nero Get Support Files tool. -

I just bought Nero Video 2016, and am unable to type text in. LOL all I can do is put up titles that say "Sample Text", because the text box does not appear. this occurs in advanced (timeline) and express modes.
Kind of infuriating as I like the software otherwise. But, I was certainly expecting to be able to add title. Thanks! -

I don't know if Robert sent an e-mail to tech support. If he did, obviously, we don't know what the resolution is. This problem isn't listed as one of the fixed problems in release notes for the recent update. Make sure you test after running the check for updates from the Nero ControlCenter.
If the problem persists, send an e-mail to techsupport@nero.com. If you would, let us know the resolution. -

yea I emailed them, they sent me a email telling me that they will not help me, so I uninstalled this POS app and grabbed Cyberlink. I officially moved to the never use any $#@% products ever again line. I mean after waiting a week for help from them so I could finish a project for a friend they send me a email saying they wont help. First for me.

Do they have a money back guarantee like many of the other software companies that sell via cleverbridge? Robert, what was the reason given that they would not address this? What was their answer as to why they are sweeping this under the rug?
If they choose not to address it, I am now worried. I looked at every option and put alot of thought into which to buy before plunking down the cash, so I am hoping for a better outcome than you describe. The problem we have is exactly the same so there is definitely a problem here! -

Tech support doesn't patrol the forum often. When they do, they don't go through every thread. I was hoping Robert would post the e-mail but I'm not surprised he didn't since I don't believe they said that. How's that for a bunch of double negatives.

well I would post email if I kept it, but it pissed me off so much after waiting for response. I forgot about this post till i got email saying someone commented, wasn't sure this forum used much. Its fine if you do not believe about the email they sent me, i went and got Cyberlink Powerdirecror and its way way better. The project i am working on turning much better. Nice when the software works and customer service helps. I hope things work out, I figured they don't know how to fix or won't be bothered till everyone hollers or patched later. I can't wait months

Well, I asked because I had not gotten any response after 5 days. I also use another software app for editing and love it, but got Nero because it reads an older file format that Corel Videostudio doesn't. I can do a work-around and convert these MPEG 2's with AC3 audio (from an old sony DVD camcorder) that Corel doesn't read into mp4's that it will read, and just do the projects. My hope was to use Nero because it reads those original files natively, but corel works fine with converting. I am still hopeful Nero will fix this and allow me to use the app, but it's not looking good. Titling is a requirement LOL, and Nero Video 2016, for me, simply cannot do any titles due to a software flaw. And they seem to be ignoring it so I guess I am out my money. Never again Nero unless you stand behind your product and fix it.

I found with the Windows 10 upgrade from Windows 8.1 that I did that Nero needed an older set of .dll files to work properly ...
Namely, some that come when you install:
Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2012 Update 4

Did wonders for me fixing issues with Nero ... but I don't know if this text editing issue is specifically involved.
Anyhow, if someone wants to try installing the above package, I'm pretty sure it won't harm anything .... might not work, but then again it might.
If someone feels like experimenting with this ...
Please advise if it makes any difference.

I wouldn't object to trying, but I almost remember the Nero app indicating that it was installing these files when I downloaded it. I installed Nero Video long after my upgrade to Win 10.-

Results: first tried Lucky Phil's suggestion, it told me the file was already there and asked me if I wanted to repair or uninstall it. I selected repair....it did its thing.... but nero still would not allow text to be entered.
Then tried Neros suggestion, which I won't post because it didn't work. they suggested two processes, both of which I did implement. After the first: no work. After the second, it still did not work.
Therefore, I will not post the solution Nero presented to me here. Sigh. Thanks for trying to help me. May have to look at a different app yet again or just stick with my aforementioned app that seems to work just fine, and either way take my loss of the cost of nero.
Software companies seem to have it made. they give you a set of system requirements, you confirm that you have the right setup, and still the apps dont work and you are out your money, and they just take it.

I hope Steve has reported the results back to tech support.
I should point out to Steve that the Nero policy (from my observations) is that if tech support can't resolve a problem with a supported version, they'll provide a refund. -

If the policy you state is indeed true, that would be sufficient to in my book. I bought the program to use it, so getting it to work would be my goal. I would try another recommendation if they have one. But the policy you qoute would mean they stand behind the product, at least, Would prevent the "never try NERO again" rhetoric that there seems to be plenty of. We shall see I guess. Because you all have been so helpful, I will update in the event Nero does (or does not do)anything additional to help me. -

I haven't taken the leap into Win 10 yet. I plan to buy Win 10 Pro, rather than do the free Win 10 upgrade to my Win 7 system. -

Although I no longer waiting for resolution from Nero, I am continuing to keep up on this thread in hopes they do help all those having similar probs. I sent Nero another email few days ago and told them if they don't respond to forum they will lose customers etc.... I spent awhile scouring the net awhile b4 making this thread, there are alot of people with same prob.

Just thought y'all may want to know... I am bothering to post because of the great assistance I have received here in this forum so far. I cannot report anything, but can say Nero is not ignoring the issue. I assure you they are doing something at this time. There may be more, maybe not. But thought that anyone following this thread may want to know Nero has acknowledged the issue and I believe is working on something regarding it. It is nice to see Nero's response.... so far. OK well... Tech support did act on this. They communicated with me and put me to work on trying some things. I wish I could get a little more detailed but in good faith, I believe they may be close to a more universal solution.
Ultimately, I did get text functionality working on my Nero Video 2016. While I still have to get into the nitty gritty by doing some projects on Nero, the text issue, for me, seems fixed.
So, although I wish it would have worked initially for me, I have to say that Nero has earned my future business. Mistakes happen, and they have acknowledged and acted on my support case. It is my hope that the feedback I have provided will help them to get to a solution for everyone who has had the text issue with a simple software update very soon. We'll see, and thanks! -

Well, What they asked is that I not share any test versions of the app. And I think they use these circumstances for customers who are willling to try stuff to perfect their program before they make an official update as you know wither1. Until they know they will work with individual support cases :)
But I can say that they did supply me with a test version to run, and asked me to try some things within that test version. I tried my best to report back.
But somehow, what solved my problem was running the test version on my system, and when they asked me to go back to the original installed version to try something else (which was a problem in the test version but not the original, LOL), somehow the text functionality was there. I am not programmer but believe running the test version was a trigger, a "catalyst" for something on my system that needed to work. I was actually able to remove the test version entirely and the initial installation worked after that. I did report my hunch to them too as to what ultimately solved it, but it was just a guess. And like I said, I still have to get into a full blown project to see if there are any other issues besides the text one :) -

Most of these types of problems are system specific and one fix doesn't fit all. I have some tools that they've given to people to fix problems but I don't give them out, at Nero request, just for that reason.
Thanks for the information. I'm guessing the test version probably replaced some files like .dll's, that may have been corrupted.
