I have Nero 2017 Platinum.
I can open Nero Video 2017 and import a video file into either Express or Advanced Make A Movie mode, and play the video. But as soon as I try to split the film I get a serious fault error. The program says it has to close. It asks if I want to save the project but even though I say yes it doesn't save.
I have been to Control Centre, done every possible update, and rebooted but it made absolutely no difference whatsoever.
I'm loathe to pay £50 for Platinum 2018 just because of this fault, and would appreciate any guidance.
Thanks in advance.
Barry

Hi Barry-
Just so you know- you can get v2018 Platinum for $34.95 US right now at nero.com. I didn't look at the exchange rate.
How are you splitting the video in Make Advanced Movie? Please be specific.
Also, is it possible your video is copy protected? -

After you get to the website, wait maybe 30 seconds. You should see this-
If you are using Great Britain pounds, the cost should be about 24 pounds. The exchange rate I see is 1 pound = 1.35 US dollars. I assume the symbol you use means pounds.
Upgrading won't resolve your issue. Something has changed to cause this problem in v2017.
Go to the Nero ControlCenter and run the check for updates. If there are any, please install them.
You can go here-
http://www.nero.com/enu/support/conta...
and submit the contact form for Nero technical support. Note that they don't work weekends. -

Thanks for your efforts.
I did the Control Centre updates (and still had the same problem) before starting this thread.
I'll submit a ticket tomorrow. -

Hello Barry.
Something worth giving a try:
It might be a case of the "cache" folders becoming corrupt. You can delete the Nero Video "Cache" folders, and they will be re-initiated when Nero Video starts up again.
Where to do the deleting:
Substitute your windows username for "YOUR USER NAME" below ...
For Nero 2017 :
(1)
Delete the folder "Nero Vision" at
C:\users\YOUR USER NAME\AppData\Local\Nero\Nero 2017
(2)
Delete the folder "SharedMediaData" at
C:\users\YOUR USER NAME\AppData\Local\Nero
(3)
Delete the folder "Nero Vision" at
C:\users\YOUR USER NAME\AppData\Roaming\Nero\Nero 2017
Note: The above folders are usually "hidden" folders in Windows, so you might have to use the "View" Tab in Windows File Explorer to show hidden files from C:\users\YOUR USER NAME
and below. -

I don't know about 'Lucky', Phil, but you are a certifiable genius.
I followed your instructions, loaded the same video clip, spliced it (twice!) deleted the bits I didn't want and saved the result.
My Nero Vision 17 is good as new, and I am in your debt.
Thank you very much indeed.
Best wishes
Barry-
Glad it worked Barry.
Cheers. -

I shot the video myself, on Thursday. There are no cooyright issues.
I put the scissors where I want to splice the film, and click. I’ve done it a thousand times before without any problems, most recently a couple of months ago.
As it feels like a technical fault I’m wary that upgrading to 2018 might not resolve it.
Best wishes
Barry
