Nero Video & DTS

I have used Nero Vision 10 for many years primarily for encoding HD MKV files and burning to DVD. Once imported I usually encoded to 2 channel AC3 audio. After many years of use i decided it was time to upgrade and purchased Nero 16 Platinum a couple of hours ago. I was disappointing to find that the new version of nero vision, NEro Video 16 does not seem to be allowing me to import an MKV file with a DTS audio track and I get the audio format not supported error. This leaves me with a huge problem since I cannot encode the audio to AC3 2.0 if the original DTS track cannot be imported. This is the only task I really use Nero for so I was bummed a little when I had to remove Nero Video and reinstall my 6 year old copy of Nero Vision 10 to accomplish the task I needed to get don today. When I upgraded I expected to get the same features as were included in Nero 10 but with a few added extra's due to the increases in tech in the last 6 years. Is there a plugin pack or something that I'm doing wrong as I cannot understand why DTS would not be compatible when its the most commonly used audio format in the world of blu ray today. Without this Nero 16 is redundant to me so Im really hoping to find a fix. Many thanks.

    In Nero Video, do you get the option to choose AC3 5.1 in the Audio selection prior to transcoding?

    I purchased nero 16 platinum a couple of hours ago so it will be the latest version. I have selected 2.0 AC3 in the audio settings but there is still no audio when i arrive at the final step before transcoding where you are shown the output file and the remote control tab. It simply does not seem to be importing the DTS track from my MKV file.

    I have googled and found a post from a staff member saying that Nero 16 does not encode DTS to different formats which I cant understand since my 6 year old copy of Nero 10 does do meaning that I am not able to use my newly upgraded version of Nero 16 platinum. Bummer.

    • Upon re-installing Nero 10 I experienced the same issue however I noticed that I had purchased a HD add on pack for nero 10 which added dts functionality. I used the serial and dts immediately started working. Im baffled as to why the latest platinum version does not work with dts as its the most popular audio format for bluray. Im hoping that there is a similar hd pack for nero 16 that will provide the same dts functionality upgrade as i previously purchased for nero 10, otherwise Its a little redundant. I didnt question this before buying since new versions dont usually remove basic features like this especially in platinum versions. Ill stick with 10 for now until i can get this sorted, otherwise I may have to request a refund :(
    • As alluded to by Lucky Phil, there was a recent undocumented update that killed off HD audio processing in v2016. Apparently, that has been incorporated into the latest installers. Nero has said they're not going back with this one. I haven't seen that update in Win 7 so I think it applies to Win 10.

    Yeah, mind blowing right! Nero does NOT support Blu-ray anymore... I had to go back to using 2014.

    We are very sorry for the inconvenience you have experienced; however it is unfortunately not possible for us to roll back the change.

    • unfortunately I had absolutely no idea that by upgrading I would be losing a feature essential for my needs. I had a job that needed to be finished today so I had to reinstall Nero Vision 10 which could only be achieved after completely removing Nero 16. This was obviously a huge disappointment since I had upgraded to gain features and not lose essential features needed for 90% of my jobs. Please see my full post below

  • I have used Nero 10 for years flawlessly and have always been extremely happy with it. I upgraded simply because I received a message saying that I was entitled to an upgrade at a discounted price. Even though I only used Nero for this one job I figured it was worth paying for the platinum version considering how faithful Nero Vision has proved over the last 6 years. I was shocked to find that Nero Video does not have DTS support. This is a huge issue for me since it makes Nero completely useless for my needs. The worst part is that Nero Vision 10 cannot even be installed alongside any of the Nero 16 applications meaning that I have had to completely remove Nero 16 after only 2 hours. In terms of my needs it seems that I have actually paid for a downgrade which is hugely disappointing since DTS content is a part of every single job I require Nero for and because DTS functionality is included in most of the cheaper Nero alternatives. I do not feel that you should be able to lose features whilst upgrading and if DTS is never going to be included with Nero 16 I would like to request a refund please since I'v had to uninstall it from my system. I would be happy even if you could use my purchase and supply me with the latest version of Nero that included DTS. I was happy with Nero 10 and was not bothered about upgrading, I only did this because I was offered a discounted price and because Nero has been so useful To me for many years however I believed that by upgrading I would be gaining features and not losing essential features. DTS is required for most of my jobs so I need to keep Nero 10 on my system. Unfortunately it will not operate alongside any Nero 16 content so this purchase is unable to replace my previously purchased copy of 10. Please could I request a refund. Sorry for the inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.
