Nero Video Export Page Setting Defaults

Is it possible to set default values for the Format and Profile on the Export page?

I'm using Windows 10, Nero Video 22.0.1015, Advanced Editing.

  • Hi Michael-

When you get to the export options, click on Configure in the Profile section. Make all the settings as you would like them. Then select Save As and give it a name. The next time you export a file, you should be able to make a Custom selection and call up what you saved.

    Does that work?

  • Thanks Wither.

I can do that but it doesn't save me any clicks!

What I'm doing is re-editing a lot of films. These films were made using Nero 2016 on a Windows 7 machine. I had selected m2ts as the file type as I found that the best quality and most usable format at the time. Unfortunately on my current machine m2ts seems to misbehave when I edit in Nero - it freezes for the first second or two of play of each section. I don't know why but as a solution I decided to use MPEG-2/Blu-ray video in the Export section and that works well.

What happens is that when I go to Export, it is set up as AVC/AVC with a hardware acceleration of NVIDIA (I used an AMD GPU before). So I change it to MPEG2/Blu-ray.

  • It does save you steps if you make changes to things such as quality, audio, etc,. in the profile that you want to retain.

If you go to Options, Application Settings, Editing, is Nero Background Rendering enabled? If not, enable it. That may fix your freezing issues.

.m2ts is blu-ray and uses interlacing for the sampling format. The AVC uses progressive which is fine if your original video is 1080p. The hardware acceleration helps to speed up the export process.

    There's no mpeg2/blu-ray format. mpeg-2 is 720x... and is used for DVD-Video.

  • I enabled Nero Background Rendering but it didn't make any difference.

When I select MPEG-2 in the Format box there is an option for Blu-ray video compatible. That's what I use.

What I do is effectively convert the film from m2ts to MPEG-2, then edit and finish as MPEG-2.

I'm OK with that and it works pretty quickly.

Thanks again for trying to help.
