Nero 12 Platinum Recode Freezes

I have Nero 12 Platinum. I'm trying to recode 3 min home movies on disc to mp4 smartphone format. Nero begins the recode but freezes after 30 seconds and never recovers. No error messages or pop-ups, just stops. I know it is working the first 30 seconds because i check the destination file and it has video and audio for a few seconds. Any help plz.

  • Try this-

    Open Nero Video.

    Select "Make movie or slide show". Choose an option in the next screen which most closely corresponds with your original file.

    Import one of your files and drag it to the timeline.

    Click on Export.

    Choose the mp4 format and the default mpeg-4 profile.

    Export to file. Of course, you need to note or specify the location of the resulting file.

    Is the resulting file complete as determined by dragging it into Nero Media Home and playing it?

    It is difficult to tell you why this is happening without some speficic information on your system. If you want assitance from TechSupport, you will need to contact us directly via e-mail and send us the following information:

    1) The NeroSupport.cab log archive.

    Click the following link to download the \"GetSupportFiles.zip\" file to your hard drive:
    http://www.nero.com/link.php?topic_id...

    Extract the zipped file on your hard drive using WinZip or WinRAR. Start the tool by double-clicking the EXE-file.

    -> The \"C:\\WINDOWS\\system32\\cmd.exe\" window opens.

    The tool may take several minutes.
    You can track the single steps in the displayed window.
    After the tool has successfully run you will find a file named \"NeroSupport.cab\" on your desktop.

    Please send us this file as an e-mail attachment.

    Information on your source video file

    a. What format does the source video file have?
    b. Is the source video file saved on your hard drive or is it accessed from CD/DVD (or another external device)?
    c. Where does the source video file come from?
    d. Does the error occur with other video files in this format as well or just with this particular video file?
    e. Can you play back the video file on your PC? If you can, which player was used?
    (Nero Kwik Media, Nero ShowTime, Windows Media Player, PowerDVD,...)

    I downloaded the program listed above and emailed it. I also tried the method listed above about creating movie or slide show. This method worked. I was able to recode the video to mp4 with no problems. Thanks for the help.

  • It will be interesting to hear what tech support has to say about the problem in Recode.

    My intent in asking you to try Nero Video was to see if there was anything about your original files that would cause Recode and Nero Video to choke. I think Recode and Nero Video use slightly different codecs but don't know for sure.

    Out of curiousity, does the mp4 file play on your smartphone?
