Nero 2014 platinum cannot write BD-DL

I have a Lite-On iHBS312-33 burner with latest PL16 firmware. I try to write different different content on double layer blurays, but program stops with mistake. It seems that only one layer was written. I used BD-R DL (verbatim) and BD-RE DL (TDK); second layer was not written on both. As I understan the log, burner didn't make switch to second layer. What can I do?

    You should first try different brand of media. If this does not help, you should chnage the writer

  • I see some other things. First, it says that the maximum write speed is 4.92 m/s which, unless I'm wrong, is 1X. You could try a burn at 1X.

    You could also check for a firmware update from the lite-on website.

  • It appears that you're burning from either Nero Express or Burning Rom. Could you tell me which one it is?

    After you've created a compilation and get to the burn settings screen, there is a box for setting the write speed. Typically it's set for maximum but you can change it. Are you saying it doesn't give you an option lower than 2x?

    What really bothers me is that I can't find if the PL 16 is the latest firmware for your drive. Is this in a laptop or a PC?

  • I was burning from Burning ROM. Yes, 2x speed is the only option. I flashed firmware of my drive with liteon's utility and PL16 should be the latest firmware. I have a PC. Yesterday I tried again to write tha same disk and failed - log is below.

  • This time it's providing a medium error. For that, we recommend using a different disc, different batch of discs or different brand of disc (which Jens suggested earlier).

    I'm still disturbed by the fact that it says the max burning speed is 1x but it's trying to use 2x. Does the packaging mention the max speed or does it mention anything about HTL?

    Can you burn CDs and DVD's with this burner?

  • HTL means high to low. It's a different method of measuring the reflectance of the beam on the disc (this is from memory which isn't all that great). Originally, it was low to high (hope I didn't get it backwards). If your burner uses the latter, then you would need a firmware update to use a HTL disc. Sometimes they mention that in the fine print on the box or somewhere else. Ditto for the write speed. I don't which exact discs you're using from TD and Verbatim.
