The errors in the first two burns are not the same. In the first one, there's an error with your burner. It is unable to track the laser on the disc.

In the second burn, there is a medium error.

Both of these may be related.

The last two logs are incomplete so I can't say what the problem is.

Would you open Burning Rom, New, Help and select About Nero Burning Rom. What is the version number provided?

  • Would you try burning the same project to the image recorder, instead of a disc. Save the log and try to post it here or at pastebin.com.

I'm seeing some other anomalies, such as variance in the reported writable space on your discs. I don't know if that's because you're choosing a Multisession disc (I assume that's your intention).

  • Dear Mr.Wither

As you have said I always choose multisession.

Now I have given 3 logs in past bin.com as public paste.

    1) As usual burning into DVD. Failed and its log titled as Normal burning
    2) Tried in Image recorder as you have said. It asked for a location in Harddisk and I saved in Desktop. Burning completed successfully and its log pasted with title as Image recorder.
    3) I tried to burn the same in harddisk with write to harddisk option. Burning successful and its log I have pasted with title as harddisk burning.

kindly go through the same and give your solution. Except please don't say DVD problem because I do not know from which new source I will go since I have exhausted all sources. Result is same in all source/brand DVD's

  • Hi Vedanarayanan,

The problem seems to be with your recorder or media, as the writing to hard disc or using the ImageRecorder work without problem.

The no seek complete error message can usually be solved by taking the following steps:

    1.
Install the latest firmware for your disc recorder.
Older firmware can cause compatibility problems as well as burn failures.
Firmware upgrades for your recorder are only provided by the disc recorder manufacturer.
All firmware upgrades and support for upgrading your recorder's firmware must be provided by either the disc recorder manufacturer or the OEM from whom you purchased your disc recorder. Unfortunately, we cannot be of further assistance in this matter.

    2.
Try burning with different media brands. For example: TDK, Verbatim, Imation, Yamaha, HP, etc. Also contact the manufacturer of your disc recorder and ask which particular media it recommends for your disc recorder.

    3.
Try different power cables. Do not share power for your disc recorder with other devices – the disc recorder needs its own power cable. If the problem occurs with an external disc recorder then check the power source in the case. Take the disc recorder out of the external case and connect the disc recorder internally to see if that solves the problem.

    4.
If you are using a IDE/P-ATA disc recorder then try connecting the drives in a different configuration, i.e. connecting the disc drive to the primary bus and setting the disc recorder you are using to "Master" on the secondary bus instead of running them as master and slave on one bus.
(If you have an old IDE cable we recommend that you exchange it for a ATA-133 80 wire cable).

    5.
Defective disc recorder - the optical head on your disc recorder may need cleaning or servicing. It is also possible that the circuit board on your disc recorder has an open coil or blown diode/resistor. Any one of these factors could cause burn problems. The only solution with any of these problems is to send the disc recorder to the manufacturer for service.

    Hope this helps!
    Best regards,
    NeroUser
    • He asked that I not recommend using other discs because he had gotten all the different discs he could get. Way back when, he had Key Unit Attention error which implies the burner is defective. I believe I asked him to clean the drive with a drive cleaner CD. He's also getting erratic reports on the disc capacity. Other than the one time "key unit attention" error, everything else has been a medium error so, it really sounds like the discs.

  • Dear Sir

    Of Nero user's recommendations

    1) Firmware updation done when similar problem cropped up last time and suggested by one of you. Mine is ACER 4720Z updated driver from their site.

    2) Earlier tried Sony,National etc., Now given below error log link after trying Moser baur

    http://pastebin.com/G3DvytfY

    3) It is not an external recorder. It is internal one in laptop. Hence separate power cables etc., does not required

    4) I'm unable to understand. If you give little bit more clarification that also I can try.

    5) I don't mind getting it serviced but it works all right sometimes but occasion is one 10 burn or so. But now totally all burns are failing.

Anyhow go through above link and give your feed back. I don't mind throwing out the writer also but I must be sure it is burner or discs or some hitch in software.

I will try some other makes also and send log if required. And you have said what make discs the manufacturer suggests. I feel this is too much. You mean to say DVD writers will burn only some makes.

Fine Sir go through and suggest something. I'm handicapped and literally BURNING disks. I mean wasting disc after disc only.

  • I understand that you're wasting discs. Sorry about that.

I'd like you to try a couple of things.

First, have I recommended that you clean your drive with a drive cleaning CD such as Fellowes. If not, please do that.

Second, try a burn at 2x.

Third, try a burn at 2x with multisession turned off.

Use a different disc for each burn.

  • Dear Mr.Wither

As you said you suggested earlier I did. Now once again I did. Same problem. I took the drive and got it serviced.

Specifically told it is reading but not burning. He serviced. Had some tough time but at last copied from DVD as Image file in hard disc and burnt from there. Started burning.

From then on wards smooth sailing. Burnt 2 more DVD's.

Thanks a lot for all your patience and continuous support

  • I was asking you to do all those things in hopes that you didn't need a new drive. If you tried all the things I last asked and it didn't work, I was going to tell you it was a drive problem (as indicated by the Key Unit Attention error you got long ago). I don't know what the man did to fix it but, I'm glad it's working now.
