I’m frustrated

Nero MediaHome crash every two to five min.

I purchased your Nero Platinum 2014 two weeks ago. I installed and updated the software right away. Every since that this product have been on my system, the Nero MediaHome will stop working and re-start every two to five min. without fail. I can't get anything done because of it.

  • Hi Robert-

Do you get any error messages when this occurs?

About the only thing that I can recommend is to uninstall/reinstall.

Elsewise, send an e-mail to tech support at techsupport@nero.com. Let us know what they have to say.

No. There are no error messages at all.

  • I've been in the forum almost daily for the last six years. This is the first time that I've heard of this problem. Of course Nero MediaHome, in its current incarnation, has only been available for the last 3-4 years.

It seems to me that NMH isn't really crashing. It sounds like it's disappearing visually, but it's actually running in the background. You can check it out by running Task Manager, Applications when it appears to stop.

The recommendations I made are the only things I can think of for this problem.

You asked earlier if I get any error messages. The answer is still no. However, when NHM crash I get a windows dialog stating that NHM has stopped working and that windows is trying to find a way to fix the problem (not an exact quote from windows but the meaning is true). Then the dialog change and say that NHM is restarting. At that point NHM close and restart. This happens over and over again. At intervals of about two to five min.
I hope this additional info can help with this problem.

    Thanks

  • You could try going to the Microsoft website and downloading/installing SP1 to C++ 2010. Of course, reinstalling Nero would do the same thing. You pick.

  • Robert,

For a similar issue in topic Media Home, Nero 2014 Platium not working, Nero Support suggested:

Ensure that you have all hidden folders and files displayed on your system.

    Please proceed as follows:

    Windows 8:
Please open the Windows Explorer and enable the checkboxes "File name
extensions" and "Hidden items" in the menu bar.

    Windows 7:
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/wi...

    Windows Vista:
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/wi...

    Window XP:
    http://www.microsoft.com/resources/do...

Once this is done, reboot your computer.

    Rename the following folders:

    Windows 8 + 7 + Windows Vista:

    (1)
Change the name of the “Nero“ Folder from
    C:\User\\AppData\Local\Nero
    To
    “Nero1”
    C:\User\\AppData\Local\Nero1

    (2)
Change the name of the “Nero_Ag“ Folder from
    C:\User\\AppData\Local\Nero_Ag
    to
    Nero_Ag1
    C:\User\\AppData\Local\Nero_Ag1

    Windows XP:
Change the name of the folder “Nero” from
    C:\Documents and Settings\\Local Settings\Application
    Data\Nero1
    To
    Nero_Ag
    C:\Documents and Settings\\Local Settings\Application
    Data\Nero_Ag1

Now try to start Nero MediaHome again.

Please inform us if these steps helped to solve the problem.

Should you have any further queries, please do not hesitate to contact us
    again.

    Best Regards
