Nero video 14 and Nero Video 12 stops and locks up while transcoding the Chapters Menu

Using Nero Video14, writing to a folder when finished with the project, the program stops and locks up when it starts
to transcode chapters with about 2 minutes left. The timer keeps timing but the program does not respond otherwise. Does not respond to any clicking including 'Abort' and must be shut down each time with 'Task Manager'. Before burning or writing to a folder, the program says that there are no errors and if it sees errors, the program locks up there also and only 'Task Manager' can shut it down!!! Uninstalling and reinstalling did not help with the problem. Nero 12 used to work but it now does the exact same thing as Nero 14!

  • What exactly do you mean by "writing to a folder". Where are you when you try to do this and what are you selecting?

Is you v14 up to date as determined by running the check for updates from the Nero ControlCenter.

If you open Task Manager when this is occuring, is Nero Video still shown as running? It could be you're not letting it go long enough (ignore the 2 minutes).

  • Thanks for replying, Wither!
I am using Windows 7 Home Premium and it's up to date.
Also, remember that Nero 12 used to work with these same files and Nero 14 did maybe 2 times. It seems like the more times I use the same files, the worse the problem! My next try will be to run the original files back through Nero Recode and try Nero 14 again... will post my results but will be later on today.

    1. Choice of writing to a folder or burning to a disc.
I have already wasted 6 blu-ray disc on this project
    2. Yes, my Nero 14 is up to date. I also uninstalled it and
reinstalled from my copy of the .exe and updated and same problems. Then I let Windows uninstall it and downloaded the trial version and used my 'key' to make it a full version and same problems.
    3. Yes, Task Manager shows Nero still running but several times I have waited more than 2 hours for Nero to continue but every time Nero never responds after stopping transconding of the chapters. One time I actually waited over night, about 8-10 hours and it was still locked up!....so No, the program is not running!
    4. It makes the .m2ts files but never places the .mpls in the PLAYLIST folder. In other words, it gets very close to finishing the project but locks up. Yes, I have plenty of hard drive space. This project is only 8GB and I have over 100GB available.
    5. Problem is getting worse: most of the time, it will stop with 90% of a file loading into the program at "Import files" and lock up with only 'Task Manager' able to close the program.
6.Important!!!: All of the files that I am using were made by NERO RECODE. So it's not like Nero hasn't seen them before! Nero 12 was actually working fine until I started using Nero 14 Platinum...but like I said, I have uninstalled and reinstalled twice. Also, I can't find any 'log' files to look at. It only ask to make a log file when the program actually finishes! All of these files are OTA
(over the air) broadcast from local television stations.
    Thanks again, Wither!

  • Thanks for the providing the details.

    The nerovideolog.txt file is here-

    C:\Users\"user name"\AppData\Roaming\Nero\Nero 15\Nero Vision

Please post the contents here. It may take more than one post to get the whole thing.

I think a few others have posted about this with OTA files.

  • Thanks Wither!.....I would say that you won't believe it but
I see that you've answered a lot of post....but here's how I finally got Nero to finish with my project. Remember I mentioned that the more times I tried it, the worse it got!!!
This morning all I did was rename the files, ( I was testing 5 files), from Daytona 1 to Day 1, Daytona 2 to Day 2..etc and Nero took all the files without bitching or locking up and finished and gave me a log file and I was able to burn to a disc and it plays exactly like I want! Very strange work around to say the least. As I mentioned before, Nero had at some time loaded these same files. The problem started when Nero wouldn't take more than one file at a time. I had to load them one by one for it to accept them. Then it started loading a file(one that it had loaded in the past with no problem) and stop and lock up at 90% of the file and things got big time worse from there on!!!............Nero did not create any log files for these failures but it did for the good one this morning and will include it if I can find out how...I tried to attach the file but it states that only can add an image file!.....but since there's no errors, don't think you could detect the past problems. Thanks very much, Wither! I will try this work around the next time to see if it works again, but I'm not counting on it!....THANKS!

  • Wither, I erased the log file because my key might be in it!
If you really need it, I will repost

  • Very strange is an understatement. As long as the file name is conformant with Windows, it shouldn't make any difference. I wonder if there was a tag of some sort on the file name. I've never heard of that but some mp3 files do have a tag.

Nero creates logs regardless of success or failure.

You're correct. Since you deleted the old log, the new one won't help. Note that the logs do not contain the entire serial number so you can post them without worry. The way to post them is to copy and paste the contents.

I'm glad you got it figured out. I'd try it without renaming them the next time and, if it fails, post the contents of the log.

    Enjoy!
