I’m frustrated

Not enough system resources are available to perform this action

I get the above error message when editing within Nero Video. Please note that I am using Nero 16 Platinum, have fully updated this and have created dozens of videos, but this is the first time I have encountered this error.

Please advise what further information you require to rectify this error message?

Many Thanks in advance.

Marc

  • Clean up time might help? Try to clear temporary folder. Check you have enough room on system drive to perform task in hand. For example, 9GB needed on system drive to burn standard picture resolution dual layer DVD. Don't change system Page file settings. Work totally on system drive and not from other drives. Clear out unwanted stuff on system drive. Check all updates. Do a few restarts and a few turn offs and wait 5-10 minutes for rest periods. Turn off, leave overnight and return to try again in morning. Note; Video files might be corrupt. If not, worst case - re-install Nero. Good luck.

    Thanks for your reply Chris.

I have cleared all temporary folders (over 4GB), checked Nero has been fully updated, restarted my PC on a few occasions and now reinstalled Nero to no avail?

How would I know if the video files are corrupted? Please note that the photos/videos/files used within the video I'm trying to edit have been previously used and I have created dozens of other videos.

Is there anything else I can do?

Many thanks again for your help.

  • Hi Marc,

I guess 'corrupt' is a strong term and makes it sound like your trying to bend something, which I know your not. It's more to do with Nero not being happy with the files for some reason and something has changed.

I think I have reached my limit with you as regards a fix with few ideas left to draw on. I wish I could get you going. Someone else might think of something for you and helping at a distance is not always as good as seeing what is happening with your setup. I ran two identical Nero projects on two PC's and got different warnings in return. Using another PC might be an option for you but can also represent a pain in arrangements.

So what can we do? Let me throw some random things at you. It might make you think. I don't know your system specs - hard drive might be tired? Motherboard connections recheck. Try another way. Check the blogs and net forums. Sometimes I read something unrelated but changes my view and then I get somewhere. Deleting and reloading your source/project files on the system drive might help? Change folder names and keep names short. (do restarts between to reset system registry) Converting you files to another format might be an idea and/or reduce size. This will refresh the file coding within but at a possible cost in change.

I guess your using Windows 7 or later, you might want to look at the operating system performance settings and make changes but take notes so you can revert. System defaults are usually best at the end of the day. No doubt you have googled the warning term - so read what comes up. Give the system less to look at and take off corporate rubbish programs if you have some. Make sure the PC is doing nothing else that is drawing on the processor. Disconnect other drives dependent on you power supply. Reduce, stop or take off some start up programs. Stop third party anti-virus. Shut down and take out and put back RAM modules in different slots and finally and this is desperate and may make no difference at all; reformat the hard drive completely... the fight goes on.

I have the same problem with Nero 16 and just bought the new Nero 18 thinking this problem with the "Not enough resources" message was solved. Unfortunately, it is still appearing in Nero Video and extremely frustrating. I have spend hours on redoing my video slideshows over and over and have tried everything suggested in previous posts without results. Most of the time the program shuts down and I have to redo everything. I believe it is a big flaw in the program. Very frustrating!
