Old Nero 7 video - Can't access without program

I have some .mpg video files that I imported back in 2006 using NeroVision. I no longer have that program, but I would like to somehow access that video and use it. Without paying for a new Nero program, is there some free converter or way to get access to those .mpg video files and use them in another program?

Honestly, I don't understand the question. If you have the video files, what other video are you looking for? Importing video into Vision and working with it doesn't affect the original files. The only thing I can think of that you would do in Vision which would require Vision again is if you saved the project as a .nvc file. Perhaps you would explain.

  • Ok.. let me try again.

In 2006, I had the program Nerovision (I think version 7). I imported video from my camcorder into the nero program. It saved it as something like file01_0867653.001.mpg. Flash forward 8 years. I have a new computer, I no longer have or use any Nerovision program old or current. That program is gone along with the computer I used it on. I have no box or download record or anyway to access the Nerovision program any longer.

This weekend, I was going through my backup drives and fold those imported videos. I went to open them to look at them and got an error, that windows media player couldn't open it. I tried to import in windows movie maker, no joy. I tried quicktime, nothing.

My guess is that when Nerovision imported them, it saved them in a codec or format that is not compatible with whatever I'm using today. So I have the files, I have no program and I can't view them or convert them into something I can use.

Short of buying a new nero program that would probably access these old files, is there some way, without cost I can gain access to them, and then convert these files into a modern file that is accessible by the programs I do have.

    Make more sense?

  • Download the VLC Player and try to play them.

    Also, download MediaInfo-

    http://sourceforge.net/projects/media...

Open one of your files in it. Select View, Tree. Post a screenshot which shows the video and audio formats.

v7 is not any different than any other Nero version in regards to creating mpeg, whether it be mpeg-1, 2, or 4.
