  • Hi Paul,
    A bit of a long shot ...

It might be a case of the "cache" folders becoming corrupt. You can delete the Nero Video "Cache" folder contents, and they will be re-initiated when Nero Video starts up again.

    Where to do the deleting:

Substitute your windows username for "YOUR USER NAME" below ...

    For Nero 2016 :

    (1)
Delete the folder "Nero Vision" at
    C:\users\YOUR USER NAME\AppData\Local\Nero\Nero 2016

    (2)
    Delete the folder "SharedMediaData" at
    C:\users\YOUR USER NAME\AppData\Local\Nero

    (3)
Delete the folder "Nero Vision" at
    C:\users\YOUR USER NAME\AppData\Roaming\Nero\Nero 2016

Note: The above folders are usually "hidden" folders in Windows, so you might have to use the "View" Tab in Windows File Explorer to show hidden files from C:\users\YOUR USER NAME
    and below.

If the above still does not help, try contacting Nero Tech Support to see if they can help ....

You can use the "Contact Form" from here for example:

Technical support (Requires a serial number):

    http://www.nero.com/enu/support/conta...

    or ...

    Customer Service:

    http://www.nero.com/enu/support/conta...

  • Since he only has one menu template, there's something seriously wrong with his installation. Even the basic installation has more templates than that.

Did you install using the download from nero.com?

    If you go here-

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Nero\Nero 11\NeroContent

How many templates are in the Animated 2D\HD folder?

  • I don't see a Nero 11 folder at all.

See image of Explorer Folder/File list:
    • Paul,

As far as I know, the Content Pack is installed in a "Nero 11" folder by Nero 11 and all subsequent versions. That's how it is on my system and it has never had Nero 11 installed on it:

I did have a problem on my desktop years ago where parts of the Content Pack was somehow installed on my D: drive and part on my C: drive.

Is the Content Pack shown as installed when you click on the Welcome Screen?

  • The Nero 11 folder I mentioned is shared by versions 11 and later. I would think it would have been installed. On the other hand, I have v10 through v2016 installed on this system so I can't positively say the Nero 11 folder is actually created when someone installs v12 through v2016 without ever having v11 installed. It looks like you also have v12 through v2015 installed. Do they have more templates? Is there a Nero Content folder in in the Nero Vision folder for v2016? Is the Nero 2016 Content Pack shown as installed in Control Panel, Programs (Programs and Features)?

  • Sorry about that - I do appreciate the help.

I couldn't find any template info in either 2015 or 2016.
    I didn't uninstall 2015 then.
I did find the template install CAB's in a /temp/ folder under my user name.
They were extracted but not installed for some reason.

I finally decided to uninstall all things NERO, wipe the registry of everything left behind and do a clean install of 2016 from scratch.

FYI - Registry entries left behind:
    ActiveX/Com-129; Software Paths-786; File Types-124 plus a small # of others.

I'll let you know how the new install goes.

  • I ran the downloaded install program (Nero2016-17.0.04500.exe) and it seemed to complete normally.
After re-booting, running the main program or any of the individual components brought up an error similar to this:

While looking for any trace of the install programs, I stumbled on this:
    c:\users\\appdata\local\temp\neroinstallfiles\NERO20160411094804146

I ran the main .msi (nero.nero2016.msi) and it appeared to end normally.

Didn't work. After re-booting, same failures as before.

So I tried running each of the 23 .msi files from the above folder tree.
Now everything is working as expected.

Something (in my configuration?) led the main install program to skip certain steps
but the individual installers didn't have the same issue.

I would love to find out exactly what the cause was.

I now have the much discussed NERO 11 folder and all its components.

Now I have to think about installing the content pack.!

    Thanks for the help.

  • I'm glad you figured it out. Usually, I tell people to use the download when that message comes up. Of course, that's what you used so I would have to scramble to come up with anything if you hadn't found the solution. Thanks for the information about the Nero 11 folder.

I don't like that message. Every time I want to use my scanner software, it gives me the same message and I have to cancel the message and another accompanying message before the software launches. I do install from a CD. The only alternative is an update package which doesn't work. All HP wants to do is sell me a new scanner but mine works very well even if it is 7 years old.

Don't be chicken; set a system restore point and then install the Content pack.
