Permanent changes of normalization

Is there a way to permanently change normalization to maximum 85% instead of the RMS default value in Nero BR 2017? The default RMS value sometimes gives distortion.

  • I don't know of anywhere it allows you to save a profile.

I tried using File, Save As to save a compilation with a specific RMS value as an .nra file. I then opened it and replace the files in the compilation with new files. Strangely, the RMS value wasn't retained. If I didn't remove the original files and selected them together with the new files, it did show the original RMS value but if I just selected the new files, the RMS value was the default. I guess the RMS value is retained with the names of the original files.

Maybe you can try it. You can always ask tech support about it.

Thanks. I guess the values perhaps are stored in some information file.

    • I was normalizing multiple files. What's your problem?
    • Wither 1,

I've lost count of how many times I've pointed out that normalizing multiple files in WaveEditor by selecting all of them simply DOES NOT WORK. Each time, I post either screenshots or a YouTube video demonstrating that fact. Each time you ignore the evidence, further wasting everyone's time. Why not take a minute of your own time and watch the video?

Thanks, that probably works if normalization then is turned off. However, all this is another processing step that would be unnecessary had the Nero alternatives been smarter and up to expectation.

  • Synopsis

On December 10th, Bo presented the original topic, "Is there a way to permanently change normalization to maximum 85% instead of the RMS default value in Nero BR 2017? The default RMS value sometimes gives distortion."

Later, Wither 1 outlined a faulty normalization method using Nero WaveEditor, concluding with, "That might be a way around your problem."

I pointed out Wither 1's error, etc. so that Bo (and unsuspecting others) wouldn't be misled.

    ...

Wither 1 chastised me with "We're talking about the RMS in Burning Rom. That's what this thread is about.". (He brought up the [incorrect] use of WaveEditor, not me!)

Bo expressed disgust that their simple question has led to an argument and Wither 1 "MeToo"s and expresses concern that this sort of disagreement is driving away users needing help! (December 21st)

On December 30th, Wither 1 recommends his incorrect procedure to yet another user in topic, How to normalize MP3 jukebox disc audio tracks with Nero Express 2017 v18.0.19000?.

So, what have I gained? Well, I haven't received a single email notification since contradicting Wither 1. Coincidence?

Asking Consumer Support, I got this answer that would end all discussions for me:

    Dear Mr. Lindström,
    Thank you for your reply.
We would like to apologise for not being clear enough.
We would like to inform you about the following:
    - In your first email you asked if it is possible to permanently change normalization to maximum 85% instead of the RMS default value in Nero Burning ROM 2017.
    - In our previous reply we meant that this is not possible. You need to change the normalization in every project.
