Problem to separate the audio channels when you want to duplicate the audio from CH R to CH L !!

Anybody manages to separate CH L and CH R ? I want to to delete the audio from CH L and instead duplicate the audio from CH R to CH L (to get MONO at both channels) Seems impossible. The same with 5.1. audio - all 6 channels are embedded as one audio channel. It ́s bad that Nero offer a new version every year and still has not improved anything concerning the audio channels during all years.

  • Hi Bjorn-

You can use Soundtrax to do what you wish. It is now a free app which you can get by going to nero.com, downloads, Nero Free Tools.

I'll do my best to help with it, if you need any.

  • Hi Wither,
Thank you for your advice. I installed Soundtrax. I am sure it will work, but it is just for audio. It means I have to export the audio first as a wav-file. Importing it to Soundtrax >copy audio from CH L and paste it to CH R. After that I have to save the new wav-file and import it to my video-editing program + synch it on the timeline and
replace the original with this new file with correct audio in both channels.
Every year Nero offers a new version, but always the same limitation with the editing. Of course I should be able to move CH L > CH R & CH R < CH L or being able to duplicate the audio between the channels. That possibility should be basic !
Anyhow - thank you Whither !

  • When I read your original thread, I didn't know if all you had was an audio file or if you had a video file.

From your description, you did what I would expect for a video file. I wouldn't think that you would need to do any synching using that process.

    Are you good using SoundTrax?
    • Yes, I could adjust the audio easy in SoundTrax without any problem, but as long as SoundTrax just accept audio-files for the import - SoundTrax is not so good to use when you are editing a videoclip. Because of that I had to first make one separate wav-file to import to SoundTrax, which later after the correction has to be exported from SoundTrax and be imported to Nero Video + be synchronized on the timeline.....

  • Sorry, I did not mentioned that I am editing video and of course I want being able to adjust the audio while editing the video-files in Nero Video.
It ́s basic in other video-editing programs, but I like Nero because it ́s much easier to work with.
Every year Nero offers new versions of their video-editing programs, but that ́s not much improvements they are doing for making it easier to adjust the audio. I can even edit video-files with 5.1 audio, but it is really a limitation to having the audio channels embedded.

  • In regards to the audio being embedded, you can unlink the audio from the video but, from your description, you're already exporting the audio to file so that you can edit it in SoundTrax so, unlinking it doesn't really do much for you. You don't have to unlink it to export it.

You can adjust the volume of the audio in Nero Video either as a whole or using keyframes to adjust portions of it.

  • Of course I know that I can do small adjustments of the volume - 6dB - + 6dB and expand the view of the audio on the timeline.
That has never been a problem for me at all how to work with Nero Video in "advanced mode"

As you read in my earlier replies, I know how to export the audio to SoundTrax, to fix the problem with the audio from one channel by replace by copy the correct channel
left to channel right + export the adjusted file back to Nero Video, replace it with the new audio-file and being forced to synchronize and let video&audio be locked again.
I have mentioned my problem now so many times and now I know that nobody can give me a solution for it - if I want to continue using Nero Video.

My problem seems to be something which Nero should be aware of ! Nothing which can be solved without any better improvement for the next version of Nero Video (2019??)

Just very small improvements have been done every year for the new versions of Nero Video (for example). Other similar video editing programs gives you the possibility to make adjustments for each channel and it even includes LED meters so you got better control of the balance and levels. Very useful when you are working with 5.1. audio ( 6 channels)

If other programs were less "messy & cluttered" I would have been using other programs for years instead. Programs with better tools for the editing of your video-files and even not so more expensive.

Surprises me that nobody else seems to be missing 1) Non embedded channels at timeline and 2) LED meters for the control of the balance between the channels and/or control of the levels for each channels.
    • I replied in the other thread where you posted. Whether or not they would include VU meters would probably depend on the demand. I doubt that the average user really cares about it unless the audio level is extreme in one direction or the other but that's just my opinion. I've been in the forum every day for almost 10 years and, based on my recollection (not always the best thing), the number of people who have expressed interest in VU meters has been minimal. Most people seem to be happy using their ears and either using the keyframe adjustments or the numerical adjustments.
    • Maybe not many are using Nero to edit video-files with 5.1 audio. More than two channels make it difficult to listen and decide what channel(s) has to be adjusted. As long as no channel has to be adjusted - it is ok to edit without LED meters, but when the balance needs to be adjusted, it is very useful with that tool + being able to change the audio track from being embedded. Better letting Nero know what is missing every year in their "new" version of Nero Video. Thank you Wither for being active on the forum for so long time !! Hope more users of Nero will share their experience of these two problems we have discussed. Best wishes / Björn
