Problem with burn DVD-R with Nero 12 Platinum

Hi, I have a problem with recording DVD with my Nero 12 Platinum. It's not first time when I using this program from record from my hard drive to DVD. Everything I saw - speed is 16x, new DVD-R in dvd record, but one disk record about one hour and 25-30 minutes. It's never happen before - I always record one disck in 16x speed about 5-6 minutes. So, could you please explane to me how I can record from hard drive to new DVD-R. Computer really brand new - Intel (R) Core (TM) i5-4670 CPU @ 3.40 GHz, 3,40 GHz, Windows 7 Professional. 64 bit. 16.0 GB. DVD writer - TSST corp CDDVDW SH-224DB ATA Device. Any help will be very helpful! Thanks, Irina

  • Hi Irina-

Let's put this into perspective. If you are trying to burn a video to a DVD which is automatically playable in a DVD player, then you need to create a DVD-Video. This is done in Nero Video. Depending on the duration of the video and your system configuration, encoding and burning the video can take more time than the duration of the video.

If all you want to do is burn the video to a DVD (which would be a data disc that may or may not be recognized by a standalone DVD player), you could use Windows, Nero Express or Nero burning Rom. Depending on the file size, that coud take a few minutes or much more.

Also note, that the high write speeds that the drive vendors quote for their drives are often times based on optimization using a specific brand and type of discs. In reality, most discs are designed for a write speed of 1-4x. As a result, it's a crap shoot as to what burn speeds you can actually use.

  • Did you burn the DVD as a DVD-Video from Nero Video?
