I have Nero classic 2017. I use a Hauppague pvr to create hi def files in my computer from my cable set top box. I then want to burn a blu ray of the file using Nero. I tend to get a quick pixilation sometimes in the file. For some reason, when the burning process gets to this it knocks the blu ray out of synch. I tried burning a regular sd DVD and, while the quick pixilation showed it stayed in synch. I am not sure if this happens in the burning process or the encoding process before the burning starts. I have tried putting the file through Nero recode but that doesn't!t work. Does anyone else have this problem or know how to solve it?
Thanks

Hi Don-
Download MediaInfo for here-
https://mediaarea.net/en/MediaInfo/Do...
Run it and open on of your original files that you're using in Nero Video in it. Click on View, Tree. Provide a screenshot which shows the video and audio formats. -

Hi, Wither,
Thanks for the response. I am out of town at the moment but will do this when I get back this weekend. I can tell you I am using component cables and I have tried 2 video formats, m2ts and MP4. For the audio I am using an optical cable and the format is ac3. Do you have a pvr?
Thanks again -
-
I made a mistake--that is not MP4. It should be mpeg4. Look forward to any help you may have.
-
MP4 is mpeg-4 Part 14.
Look forward to seeing that screenshot this weekend. -

I had forgotten. I didn't think I would need the file anymore because of the pixilation so I deleted it. I can make another. I seem to get the pixilation and/or freezing on every file I make so I am sure it will happen in the next file I create.
I am curious, what will this screenshot tell you? I have never done this before. -
-
It will tell me what codecs are used for the video and audio. Some codecs can't be used in Nero.

I see though it isonly when I burn blu rays that this happens. Regular SD dvd's don't go out of synch. And here and there I get a good file and the blu ray works fine. I suspect it is not the codecs but it is worth a try. I keep thinking that this is a pvr problem but who knows. I will create a new file and get back to you.

I did the Media Info. The info is fine on the Media Info but when I add the image, as you can see , it comes out in code. Let me know if this works for you. If it doesn't, let me know how to get an actual screenshot. I can tell you the file is mpeg4 and it says the general codecs are mp42 (isom/mp42). In video the codec says avc1. Audio is AAC.
Again, let me know if this helps. If it doesn't, let me know what else I can do.
Thanks -

Actually, when I posted the actual screen shot came up and the codes when away so you can see the actual Media Info docs.

I don't see anything to be concerned about in the media information.
Would you try recoding your original file to mp4 in Recode and then trying that file in Nero Video? -
-
The file from which I sent you the codec info is mp4 but I have tried Nero Recode with past files and the recode makes them worse. It has never helped. The problem, as I see it, is that when the process that Nero Video goes through before the actual burning of the blu ray disc can't accept any distortions such as pixilation or a quick freeze in the original file. When it hits the part where the pixilation (or whatever glitch there is in the file) is, it throws the process out of synch for the rest of the blu ray. This doesn't happen in the process when burning a regular sd DVD. I think there is a flaw in the transcoding process for burning blu rays.
-
I realize that your original files are mp4. However, recoding using Recode sometimes gets rid of dropped frames which aren't normally visible during playback. Other times, it may be necessary to use something like tsmuxer to remux them to ts where there are dropped frames.
You can always run the problem past tech support.
If you want to, you can always upload your file to something like dropbox.com or similar service and provide the link so that we can work with the file. -

So far the Nero Recode has never worked. It only makes the problem worse. I have contacted tech support a number of times in the past and they have no solution other than putting the file through the recode which, as I say, never worked.
I did try downloading tsmuxer once but I couldn't get it to download correctly.
The file I have now is short. I just did it to send you the codecs. I will do a longer file and do the dropbox.com. It may be a bit before I can do it. I live in south Florida and we are supposed to get a big hurricane this weekend so I am busy getting ready for that and I expect to have no electricity for a while after that so I will get back to you after that has passed and things are back to normal.
As always--thanks for your help.-
Well, I'm on vacation in Hilton Head, S.C. and my girl wants to leave on Friday before the storm hits Florida. I wouldn't leave until Sunday but you might know how that goes. :)

Yes, I do. It looks like we are going to get a direct hit with a category 3. It may not be so bad by the time it gets to Hilton Head.
-
We don't expect to get hit with anything like a hurricane. It's just that the forecast is for rain and more rain for several days after Irma reaches landfall. If you can't go to the pool, play golf or do other outdoor activities, why pay big bucks to sit in a hotel room waiting for the rain to stop? We had talked about whether or not to go to HH before we left home and I said, let's go and if we have to leave, we'll do it. About 20 years ago, the governor of SC made it mandatory for us to leave Myrtle Beach when Hurricane Dennis hit. We're going to go to a resort which has an indoor pool and a golf course about 100 miles from home in Ohio for several days. They're not calling for rain. I'm also thinking about going to a casino for a couple of days after that before finally going home but I haven't discussed that with her yet.
I'm surprised you're going to ride it out. -

Unless I go to another state there really isn't anywhere to go. This thing is covering the whole state. The west coast would probably be a bit better but then driving back could be a hassle. Maybe it will change course a bit and we won't get an exact hit. That happened last summer with whatever the name was.
-
if it's going to die down to a cat 3, I probably wouldn't leave either but my girl would. Oh well.

If the casino here would be open I would go there. A big building and all I would hear would be the slot machines. Sounds good to me. But, I am sure it would be closed.
I keep wondering--why would the file stay in synch when burning an SD DVD but go out of synch when burning a blu ray with the same file?-
Could be because the bitrate is different.

I see. I will do a test when the hurricane is done and everything is back to normal, whenever that is. I will get back to you then.
-
-
I don't know what you can do in regards to the bitrate between the two types of discs. There will be limitations in standard definition.
The governor of SC issued some kind of mandatory evacuation for HH. I haven't seen it but the hotel has told us that everybody has to be gone by 7 AM Saturday. Of course, I've already said we'll be gone tomorrow morning. -
